SO ON BEHALF OF THE DOMITILA AND TIMOTEO JUAREZ SENIOR EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION FUND, IT IS TRULY OUR HONOR TO BE A PARTNER WITH LOCKHART ISD AND OF COURSE WITH YOUR ELEMENTARY CAMPUSES.
JUST A LITTLE HISTORICAL ASPECT.
BACK IN 2000, WE STARTED OUR SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS FOR GRADUATING SENIORS FROM LOCKHART HIGH SCHOOL.
BUT IN 2009, WE REALIZED THAT WE REALLY WANTED TO ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE.
WE NEEDED TO GET OUR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS OFF TO A GREAT START.
MR. WRIGHT AND MEMBERS OF THE SCHOOL BOARD.

I PROBABLY NEED TO LOOK THAT BECAUSE THIS ONE'S WORTHLESS.
THE BOARD ENDED ITS CLOSED SESSION AT 6:28 P.M.
WE WILL NOW MOVE ON TO ITEM SEVEN BUSINESS CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS A THROUGH H.
[Business: Consent Agenda ]
DOES ANY BOARD MEMBER HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT ANY OF THESE ITEMS? NO, IT'S NOT. ENTERTAIN A MOTION.I'LL MAKE A MOTION THAT WE APPROVE THE AGENDA AS WRITTEN.
I'LL SECOND. WE HAVE A MOTION.
WE HAVE A SECOND. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE? AYE. ANY OPPOSED? PASSES 7 TO 0.
WE MOVE ON TO ITEM EIGHT COMMUNICATION.
[First Day of School Update]
A FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL UPDATE VARIOUS PEOPLE.I WAS GOING TO SAY GOOD EVENING.
I WAS GOING TO SAY YOU GET A THREE FOR ONE SPECIAL TONIGHT ON THIS ONE.
WE'LL BE PRESENTING MYSELF AND THEN MR. ACUNA AND MISS FAMBROUGH.
JUST WANTED TO SHOW A FEW PICTURES FROM THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.
WE ADDED POP UP SITES, REGISTRATION SITES, AS WE DID LAST YEAR.
AND WE, AS YOU HEARD EARLIER, PARTNERED WITH FOR 12 KIDS AND DEL SUPERMERCADO, WHERE WE JUST POP UP OUR REGISTRATION SITES AND PARENTS JUST MEET US THERE AND WE HELP THEM GET REGISTERED.
I THINK OVERALL WE PROBABLY HAD BETWEEN 60 TO 80 THAT REGISTERED AT THOSE TWO SITES.
SO ONE OF THOSE REALLY NICE SERVICE THAT WE PROVIDE FOR OUR FAMILIES.
OUR ENROLLMENT NUMBERS, JUST HISTORICALLY, LOOKING BACK, BACK IN 2019-20, WE STARTED WITH 6015.
AND YOU CAN SEE THAT WE HAD THAT DIP IN 2021.
WE WENT BACK UP AND LAST YEAR WE STARTED WITH 6262, AND THIS YEAR WE HAVE 6551 WITH STILL STUDENTS WAITING TO BE ASSIGNED TO CAMPUSES.
SO YOU'LL SEE THAT NUMBER INCREASE AS WELL.
[00:25:05]
OUR LEADER AND ME WERE EXCITED TO START YEAR TWO OF LEADER IN ME.THEY'RE BANNERS THAT ARE HANGING IN THE HALLWAY AS PARENTS COME IN.
AND SO YOU HEAR A LOT OF THAT WITH OUR STUDENTS AND WITH OUR CAMPUSES.
THEY'RE CALLED WIGS, BUT THEY ARE SETTING THEIR WILDLY IMPORTANT GOALS FOR THIS YEAR.
STUDENTS WITH THEIR READING THEIR MATH AND CAMPUSES OVERALL WITH THEIR PERCENTAGES SHOULD BE.
WE'LL CONTINUE HAVING A BIG FOCUS ON DISTRICT INCENTIVE AND CAMPUS INCENTIVES.
WE'LL CONTINUE THOSE INCENTIVES AS WELL.
WE HAVE ABOUT AN HOUR STANDING AGENDA THAT MR. DAVIDSON AND I HAVE EVERY MONTH WITH THE PRINCIPALS WILL BE REVIEWING ATTENDANCE.
WE ALSO OUR GOAL THIS YEAR IS 94% FIRST THREE DAYS OF SCHOOL AVERAGED OUT TO ABOUT 96% ATTENDANCE.
SO WE'RE GOING TO BE CONTINUING WITH THOSE INCENTIVES AND TO SEE HOW WE'RE DOING WITH THAT.
UM, ANY QUESTIONS AROUND ENROLLMENT? WHY DID WE SEE THE DIP IN 2020, 2021? IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, I THINK THAT WAS AT COVID THAT WE HAD THAT YEAR WITH YOU.
I WAS JUST KIDDING. KEEP ME ON MY TOES THERE, MR..
ANYTHING ELSE? I'M GOING TO HAND IT OVER THEN TO MR. ACUNA, WHERE YOU COULD ASK HIM SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT 2022.
I GOT TO RAISE THIS UP JUST A LITTLE BIT.
JUST SAYING. THIS THIS IS PROBABLY THE FUNNEST PART OF THE YEAR FOR ME IS SHOWCASING OUR OUR TEAMS, OUR OPERATION TEAMS. SO OPERATIONS FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL UPDATE.
SO DAY ONE OF TRANSPORTATION, THIS WAS THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR THAT ALL ROUTES WERE OPEN.
WE'RE VERY PROUD OF THAT SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR THAT WE ARE 100% STAFFED.
I LIKE TO TRANSITION TO NUTRITION SERVICES.
IT'S DAY ONE OF YEAR TWO SELF UP.
LAST YEAR WE WE STARTED OUR SELF OP PROGRAM WITH OUR NUTRITION SERVICES.
WHAT THAT MEANS IS WE NO LONGER USE A FOOD SERVICE MANAGEMENT COMPANY TO TAKE CARE OF OUR PROGRAM.
SOME OF OUR PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS IS JUST INVESTING BACK INTO OUR KITCHENS.
WE PROMOTED OUR CAFETERIA MANAGER FROM PLUM CREEK, ROSY OCAMPO.
SHE'S GOING TO BE A GEM FOR US, AND WE'RE JUST GOING TO CONTINUE TO DEVELOP HER.
AND THAT'S REALLY, REALLY IMPORTANT TO US BECAUSE OUR KIDS HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO GET AS MANY APPLES AS THEY WANT, AS MANY ORANGES AS THEY WANT FOR FOR SNACKS LATER ON OR FOR OR FOR THEY CAN THROW ON THEIR BACKPACK FOR LATER ON IN THE EVENING.
AND AGAIN, ALL OUR STUDENTS ARE EATING FOR FREE AGAIN.
WE'RE A PRE K THROUGH THROUGH 12TH GRADE.
WE'VE GOT A LOT OF REALLY, REALLY GOOD FEEDBACK ON THAT AS WELL FROM ALL OF OUR KIDS.
TASTING OR EVENT THE DOMINO ONE.
THAT'S RIGHT, SIR. OKAY. I VOTED FOR DOMINO.
IT WORKED OUT REALLY, REALLY WELL.
DOMINOES STARTED OFF REALLY, REALLY STRONG.
WE'RE VERY, VERY PROUD OF THAT PARTNERSHIP BECAUSE IT SUPPORTS OUR COMMUNITY BY BY ORDERING THE PIZZAS FOR US, FOR OUR KIDS. IT GIVES JOBS TO OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY AND TO OUR OUR LOCAL DOMINO'S STORE HERE IN TOWN HERE IN LOCKHART. IT'S A WIN WIN FOR EVERYBODY, RIGHT? YES, SIR. ABSOLUTELY.
SO I DID WANT TO SHOW JUST A COUPLE OF PICTURES OF SOME OF THE INVESTMENTS THAT WE ARE DOING.
[00:30:03]
AS YOU CAN SEE AT THE WE DO DO WINGS FOR THE KIDS WHO LIKE WINGS, BUT WE DEFINITELY OFFSET IT WITH OUR APPLES AND CELERY AND TATER TOTS.BUT IF YOU LOOK ON THE ON THE RIGHT, THAT'S AN AIR COOLER.
AND THE KIDS CAN JUST GRAB AS MUCH AS THEY WANT.
SO NEXT, I WANT TO TRANSITION TO OUR CUSTODIAL STAFF.
IF A PRINCIPAL NEEDS SOME ASSISTANCE, THEY'RE THERE TO HELP.
AND ARE REALLY BEHIND TEAM, BEHIND THE SCENES, OUR MAINTENANCE TEAM.
WE'RE VERY, VERY GRATEFUL FOR THEM.
AGAIN, THEY WERE THERE ON DAY ONE.
SOME OF OUR MAINTENANCE FOLKS EVEN WERE DESIGNATED TRAFFIC TRAFFIC PEOPLE JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT KIDS GOT OFF THEIR VEHICLES SAFE AND SOUND. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT A PERSON WHO I RESPECT DEARLY, FRANK RICHIE, HE SAYS, JAMES, YOU KNOW, WE'RE A FAMILY HERE.
WE LOOK OUT AND TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER, PERIOD.
AND THAT JUST CONTINUES TO STICK TO ME WHENEVER WHENEVER WE START THINKING, OKAY, WHAT'S WHAT'S BEST FOR OUR STAFF? HERE'S A COUPLE OF SNAPSHOTS OF THEM WORKING.
AS YOU CAN SEE, THEY'RE IN A TRACTOR.
AND THE NEXT PIECE I WANT TO TRANSITION TO IS OUR SCHOOL SAFETY.
SO ON AUGUST 9TH AT THE GOPAK, WE.
WE CONDUCTED A SCHOOL SAFETY MEETING FOR ALL OF OUR STAFF, BUT WE DID IN THAT IN THAT MEETING, WE INTRODUCED ALL OF OUR SRO PROGRAM, OUR CONSTABLE PROGRAM, OUR LION GUARD PROGRAMS. WE TALKED ABOUT RAPTOR ENTRY SYSTEMS. IT WAS A GREAT REFRESHER FOR OUR STAFF BECAUSE SOMETIMES YOU THINK THAT THEY THEY MAY LOOK AT A BOOK, BUT WE SHOW THEM THE BOOK.
WE WE TALKED ABOUT REUNIFICATION.
AND OUR CONTINUE OUR CONTINUE EFFORTS WITH SAFETY.
THIS YEAR WE'RE USING LIGHTSPEED SYSTEMS, AND THE REASON WHY WE'RE USING LIGHTSPEED SYSTEMS IS BECAUSE GAGGLE ONLY MONITORS THE GOOGLE SUITE. LIGHTSPEED MONITORS THE FULL GOOGLE SUITE.
ALL CHROME ACTIVITY SUCH AS GOOGLE SEARCHES, WEBSITE ACTIVITY AND YOUTUBE VIDEO SEARCHES.
AND THAT'S ONE OF THE BIG REASONS WHY WE MADE THAT SWITCH OVER.
I'VE HEARD ABOUT IT. YES, SIR.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, ANSWER.
NO, I'VE HEARD THAT IT'S LOCKED DOWN A LOT MORE THAN IT WAS LAST YEAR.
THAT'S RIGHT, SIR. YES, SIR. IT MAKES ME VERY HAPPY.
I CONTINUE WITH SAFETY AND EVERY THREE YEARS WE HAVE TO DO A FACILITY.
DISTRICT FACILITY AUDIT FOR ALL OF OUR BUILDINGS.
THAT'S THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT, THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT FACILITY.
THAT'S MR. THAT'S OUR CAMPUSES.
I DO WANT TO THANK JEREMIAH CHAPMAN FOR ASSISTING ME IN THAT PROCESS.
SO THE SNAPSHOT OF OUR FINDINGS, THERE'S THERE'S A LITTLE BIT MORE.
BUT WHAT WE DID WANT TO SHARE IS THAT WE HAVE LOTS OF MAINTENANCE REQUESTS.
THAT'S ALWAYS GOING TO BE ONGOING, ESPECIALLY WITH FACILITIES THAT THAT HAVE SOME TENURE ON IT, SECURITY CAMERAS, LIGHTING, UPGRADING THE FENCING, YOU KNOW, TEACHING OUR STAFF WITH EXTENSION CORDS, CLOSET STORAGE, JUST MAKING SURE THINGS AREN'T TOO CLOSE TO THE CEILING.
SOME OF THOSE ITEMS. SO THE NEXT STEPS FOR THIS AUDIT IS THAT WE ARE GOING TO PROVIDE RECOMMENDATIONS WITH EACH PRINCIPAL AND OUR DEPARTMENT DIRECTORS.
WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE WORKING WITH OUR MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT FOR A FOLLOW UP ON THE WORK ORDERS.
[00:35:09]
DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR ME? AWESOME. I'M GOING TO TRANSITION TO MISS SUSAN FAMBROUGH AND SHE'LL TAKE IT FROM HERE.GOOD EVENING. I AM SO EXCITED TO SPEAK WITH YOU THIS EVENING ABOUT OUR STAFFING UPDATE.
WE ARE CURRENTLY 98% STAFFED DISTRICT WIDE.
WE HAVE A LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE IN A MATH CLASSROOM, A SCIENCE CLASSROOM, SOME OF OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION INCLUSION CLASSROOMS. AND THEN OUR OCC CLASS DOES HAVE A SUBSTITUTE ONCE A WEEK BECAUSE THEY ONLY HAVE CLASSES FOUR DAYS A WEEK.
AT LOCKHART JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL.
WE HAVE A LONG TERM SUB IN AN LR CLASSROOM IN A MATH CLASSROOM IN TWO OF OUR SCIENCE CLASSROOMS, IN AN ESL CLASSROOM, AND THEN WE STILL HAVE A VACANCY FOR ESL AND SPECIAL ED INCLUSION.
ALMA BREWER STRAWN WE STILL HAVE A RESPONSE TO INTERVENTION TEACHER OPENING.
AND AT PLUM CREEK ELEMENTARY, WE HAVE TWO RESPONSE TO INTERVENTION TEACHER OPENINGS.
AND THAT WAS BECAUSE THOSE TEACHERS WERE WE FOUND A WAY TO UNLOCK THEIR POTENTIAL AND THEY WERE PROMOTED TO A LOVER LEADER POSITION AT A DISTRICT BILINGUAL DIAGNOSTICIAN POSITION.
AND ONE OF THE WAYS THAT I WANT TO SHOWCASE OUR DEPARTMENT IS WE ATTENDED 11 JOB FAIRS LAST YEAR.
AND AS YOU CAN SEE, MY FORMER PARTNER IN CRIME, CHRISTINA COURSON, AND I HAD A BALL GOING TO SOME OF THE JOB FAIRS AND TRYING TO RECRUIT CANDIDATES. WE DEFINITELY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE UT, RGV, UT RIO GRANDE VALLEY JOB FAIR SO THAT WE CAN TRY TO RECRUIT HIGHLY QUALIFIED BILINGUAL TEACHERS.
WE ALSO HAD THREE OF OUR OWN LOCKHART ISD, LOCKHART ISD JOB FAIRS, AND THEN WE'VE JUST GONE TO A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT JOB FAIRS AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO THAT THIS YEAR.
I'VE ALREADY SIGNED UP FOR FIVE JOB FAIRS.
WE HAVE TO KIND OF WAIT UNTIL THOSE THINGS ARE OPEN TO REGISTER FOR, BUT I'M REALLY PROUD OF OUR TEAM FOR TRYING TO FIND WAYS TO RECRUIT MORE PEOPLE TO LOCKHART ISD.
AS FAR AS CAMPUS ASSIGNED SUBS, THOSE ARE SUBS WHO SAY I ONLY WANT TO SUB AT THIS CAMPUS.
IN OUR SUBSTITUTE SYSTEM RIGHT NOW WE HAVE 120 SUBS.
AND IF YOU TAKE OUT THE 15 LONG TERM SUBS THAT ARE FILLING IN FOR VACANCIES AND YOU SUBTRACT THE 18 CAMPUS ASSIGNED, WE HAVE 87 REGULAR SUBSTITUTES TO CHOOSE FROM AND WE HAVE HAD FOUR THREE NEW SUB ORIENTATIONS SO FAR THIS YEAR AND WE'VE ONBOARDED 24 NEW SUBSTITUTES.
THAT WILL HAPPEN ON OCTOBER 20TH.
WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE CAMPUS VISITS SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE THOSE RELATIONSHIPS THAT WE HAVE WITH THE PRINCIPALS, FINDING OUT WHAT THEIR NEEDS ARE AND MAKING SURE THAT WE FILL ANY OF THOSE OTHER VACANCIES.
AND THEN, AS YOU KNOW, WITH OUR COLLABORATIVE VISIONING STRATEGIC PLAN, NAVIGATE TO 28, WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO GET FEEDBACK FROM OUR STAFF TO FIND OTHER WAYS THAT THEY FEEL LIKE WE COULD SUPPORT THEM TO RETAIN THEM HERE IN LOCKHART.
WE'RE GOING TO WE'VE ALREADY DONE ONE RETURNING SUBSTITUTE SESSION.
WE HAD 49 OF OUR RETURNING SUBS COME ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON.
WE HAD THREE NEW SUB ORIENTATIONS WITH 24 NEW SUBS ONBOARDED, AND THEN WE COMPLETELY REVAMPED OUR NEW EMPLOYEE ONBOARDING PROCESS. THIS YEAR.
[00:40:04]
THEY CAME IN, THEY GOT KIND OF A PRESENTATION ABOUT OUR DISTRICT VALUES, AND THEN THEY HAD KIND OF A PLACE THAT THEY COULD COME TO UNDERSTAND THEIR COMPENSATION. THEY COULD MAKE SURE THAT THEY WERE SET UP IN FRONTLINE FOR SUBS.SO THEY GOT SOME SWAG, A LITTLE SLING BAG AND SOME OTHER SWAG FOR LOCKHART ISD.
WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED SUBSTITUTE ORIENTATIONS.
DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? THANK YOU.
[Review Resolution Regarding Board Review of Board Policy CDA (local) - OTHER REVENUES - INVESTMENT]
OKAY, WE'LL MOVE ON TO ITEM EIGHT B.REVIEW RESOLUTION REGARDING BOARD REVIEW OR BOARD POLICY CDA LOCAL.
ANNUALLY, WE ARE REQUIRED TO REVIEW OUR INVESTMENT POLICY AND THEN APPROVE THAT INVESTMENT POLICY.
THERE ARE NO CHANGES TO THE INVESTMENT POLICY.
BUT WE ARE REQUIRED TO APPROVE IT EVERY YEAR, EVEN IF THERE ARE NO CHANGES.
DUDE, DO YOU WANT TO GO OVER IT OR THAT WE'RE FINE? THAT REALLY THERE ARE NO CHANGES THIS YEAR.
OKAY. WELL, THANK YOU, MISS WISER.
[Public Information Act (PIA) Update]
ITEM EIGHT, PUBLIC INFORMATION ACT OR IUC PUBLIC INFORMATION ACT PIA UPDATE.SO CURRENTLY, WHEN A PUBLIC INFORMATION ACT COMES IN FROM THE OUTSIDE AND SOMEONE REQUESTS INFORMATION, WE HAVE TEN BUSINESS DAYS TO RESPOND TO THAT TO THAT REQUEST.
THEY REDEFINE WHAT A NON BUSINESS DAY IS IN THAT A BUSINESS DAY IS A NON BUSINESS DAY IS ONLY A SATURDAY, A SUNDAY, A FEDERAL HOLIDAY OR A STATE HOLIDAY.
SO WE HAVE A LOT OF HOLIDAYS IN THERE THAT DON'T FALL IN LINE WITH THAT.
AND SO WHAT THE LAW ALLOWS, THOUGH, WHEN THEY REDEFINE WHAT A BUSINESS DAY WAS, IS THAT IT DOES ALLOW A SCHOOL DISTRICT TO HAVE TEN NON BUSINESS DAYS EACH CALENDAR YEAR THAT WE CAN USE WHEN WE'RE CLOSED FOR LENGTHY PERIODS OF TIME.
SO IF SOMEONE WERE TO PUT WITH THE NEW LAW, IF SOMEONE WERE TO PUT A REQUEST IN THE DAY AFTER WE LEAVE FOR THE CHRISTMAS BREAK, WE WOULD BE OUT OF COMPLIANCE BECAUSE WE'D BE CLOSED FOR THOSE TEN DAYS.
SO THAT'S WHAT THIS LAW ALLOWS US TO DO.
SO. THIS SHOWCASES THE RECOMMENDATION FOR THE 2023 CALENDAR YEAR.
WE'RE ALLOWED TO HAVE TEN DAYS PER CALENDAR YEAR FOR 2023 AND 2024.
WE WENT AHEAD AND DID BOTH YEARS SINCE WE HAVE THAT SECOND SEMESTER COMING UP AND THAT WAY WE CAN ALLOW THOSE DAYS TO BE IN THERE. SO THIS IS JUST FOR YOUR REVIEW RIGHT NOW.
AND THEN NEXT NEXT MONTH, WE'LL BRING THOSE DAYS FOR FOR YOUR APPROVAL.
YOU JUST HAVE TO KEEP SOME. ADMIN.
THANK YOU FOR CLARIFYING. I SHOULD HAVE BETTER.
I SHOULD HAVE BETTER EXPLAINED.
THAT IS, IT ALLOWS US TO HAVE THE DAYS TO PUT IN THERE WHEN WE'RE CLOSED FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME SO THAT WE DON'T FIND OURSELVES NOT RESPONDING IN A IN A LAWFULLY AMOUNT OF TIME.
SO LIKE. OVER THE SPRING BREAK IN 2020 FOR THEIR.
[00:45:02]
YES, WE PUT TWO DAYS IN THERE SO THAT THOSE FIVE DAYS, IF SOMETHING FALLS IN, WE'RE ABLE JUST TO ALLOW US SOME EXTRA DAYS BECAUSE WE'RE CLOSED SINCE WE'RE CLOSED.SO WE SPREAD THE DAYS OUT ACCORDING TO WHAT THE FEDERAL HOLIDAYS ARE.
BECAUSE IF WE'RE CLOSED AND WE'RE NOT ABLE TO GATHER INFORMATION.
WE WOULD FIND OURSELVES IN A BIND.
THANK YOU. ITEM EIGHT D RESILIENT SCHOOL SUPPORT PROGRAM.
[Resilient Schools Support Program (RSSP) Report]
RSSP REPORT.SO GOOD EVENING BOARD PRESIDENT WRIGHT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, SUPERINTENDENT ESTRADA.
I'M HERE TO GIVE THE ANNUAL REPORT ON RESILIENT SCHOOL SUPPORT PROGRAM, ALSO KNOWN AS RSSP.
AN OVERVIEW. THIS IS JUST A REMINDER THAT THE RSSP IS A TEA INITIATIVE THAT IS WAS CREATED TO SUPPORT LEARNING LOSS AS WELL AS ACCELERATE LEARNING. ONE OF THE MAIN FOCUSES FOR RSSP IS TO PROVIDE WHAT'S KNOWN AS A TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDER, TAP OR TAP.
AND THIS IS THE LAST YEAR OF THE RSSP.
SO FOR THIS COMING SCHOOL YEAR, THE RSSP TEAM IS MADE UP OF MS..
YOU SEE THE JUNIOR HIGH LEADERSHIP UP HERE ON THE RSP.
THE PROCESS FOR RSSP CONSISTS OF A MONTHLY CHECK IN AND THESE MONTHLY CHECK INS.
WE REVIEW THE WILDLY IMPORTANT GOAL, ALSO KNOWN AS A WIG, AND I'LL GET TO THAT IN A BIT.
ANY NEEDED CAMPUS SUPPORT? THE DISCUSSION HAPPENS WITH THE TAP AND THE CAMPUS.
WE UPDATE OUR PROGRESS TOWARDS THOSE GOALS.
THE OTHER PART OF THE PROCESS IS A CYCLE REVIEW.
CYCLE ONE IS BASICALLY THE FIRST SEMESTER.
CYCLE TWO IS THE SECOND SEMESTER.
EACH OF THOSE IS A PROCESS OF CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT.
SO SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEMESTER WE CHANGED OUR ONE 1.5 HOUR MEETING TO TWO, SOMETIMES 2.5 HOURS WHERE WE JUST REVIEW ALL THE DATA AND SEE IF THAT THERE, IF THERE HAVE TO BE ANY PIVOTS IN THE THE PROCESS, THE GOALS, ANY OF THE SUPPORT THAT THE TAP IS PROVIDING THE CAMPUS OR THE DISTRICT.
THE PRIORITIES AND GOALS FOR THIS COMING YEAR.
SO AT THE END OF LAST SEMESTER AND OVER THE SUMMER AND TALKING WITH RSSP AS WELL AS OUR TEA LIAISON, THERE'S BEEN THIS FOCUS ON SHRINKING THE CHANGE. SO YEARS AGO IT WAS HOW TO INCORPORATE THE MANY SYSTEMS AND DIFFERENT PROTOCOLS WE HAD IN THE DISTRICT AND HOW THEY COULD EMBED EACH OF THOSE OR ACTUALLY MAKE THEM CONNECT SO THAT THE DISTRICT COULD WORK BETTER AND IT COULD BE ACROSS DIFFERENT CAMPUSES AND OUR PROCESSES.
TEA WANTED US TO EVEN HAVE A CLOSER FOCUS WITH A SPECIFIC CAMPUS.
SO AFTER CONVERSATIONS WITH BOTH WITH BOTH THE JUNIOR HIGH AND THE HIGH SCHOOL, WITH THE LEADERSHIP THERE, WITH TEA AND OUR OUR TAP PROVIDERS, WE SETTLED ON THE JUNIOR HIGH AND CRITICAL WRITING. SO AS YOU CAN SEE THERE, THE ACCELERATION STRATEGY IS CONCENTRATING ON THE INSTRUCTIONAL TENANT OF CRITICAL WRITING.
IT'LL BE AN EALR SIX, SEVENTH AND EIGHTH IS WHERE WE WILL FOCUS ON DATA.
BUT AS YOU WILL SEE THAT THE CRITICAL WRITING IS ACTUALLY GOING TO BE ACROSS THE CAMPUS.
SO WHAT YOU HAVE HERE IS CYCLE ONE GOALS.
SO THE HIGHEST SCORE THAT YOU CAN GET IS A TEN.
THERE'S IT'S REALLY THE HIGHEST SCORE YOU CAN GET AS A FIVE, BUT THERE ARE TWO SCORES.
[00:50:04]
SO WE'RE LOOKING AT THIS WILDLY IMPORTANT GOAL AS A WAY TO NOT ONLY INCREASE CRITICAL WRITING AND THE SCORING FOR THE JUNIOR HIGH, BUT AN OVERALL A RATING BY DOING SO.YOU HAVE THE GOALS HERE, BUT YOU CAN SEE THE EMBEDDED LEAD MEASURES THAT GO FROM WHAT WE WANT FROM PROFESSIONAL LEARNING FROM TEACHERS TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CRITICAL WRITING, WHICH WILL BE MONITORED BY OBSERVATIONS AND THEN PROVIDING FEEDBACK.
AND THEN A 30% INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF KIDS WHO GET MEETS ON CBA ONE TO CBA TWO.
THE MILESTONES THAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR, THE ONES THAT WE WANT TO SHOWCASE.
AND FOR THIS CYCLE OF RSP IS HAVING PROFESSIONAL LEARNING ON CRITICAL WRITING.
AND THAT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED AT THE JUNIOR HIGH.
THEY'VE HAD TWO SESSIONS OF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING ON CRITICAL WRITING.
SO WE'VE UPDATED THE WALKTHROUGH FORM TO INCLUDE WRITING IN THE LOOK FORMS. THE FEEDBACK THAT THE ADMINISTRATION IS GOING TO PROVIDE IS GOING TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON THE WRITING.
THERE'S GOING TO BE OBSERVATION AND COACHING FROM THE TAP.
AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO ANALYZE THE DATA TO MAKE SURE THAT DURING THAT MID-CYCLE MID-CYCLE STEP BACK, IF WE HAVE TO MAKE CHANGES OR NOT, IF WE'RE NOT SEEING WHAT WE NEED AT THE JUNIOR HIGH.
WE'VE ALIGNED THESE INITIATIVES TO DIFFERENT THINGS IN THE DISTRICT.
IT'S SOMETHING THAT'S EMBEDDED INTO THE STAR 2.0.
IT'S WE'RE GOING TO CONNECT IT TO THE SHARED LEADERSHIP MODEL BY ENSURING THAT THE LEADERSHIP TEAMS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE THAT INFORMATION TO THE TEACHERS SO THAT THEY CAN GROW. THEY'LL THEY'LL BE CONTINUED SMALL GROUP PLAYBOOKS AT THE AT THE JUNIOR HIGH.
WE'LL DO DATA DISAGGREGATION AS PART OF THAT MONTHLY MEETING THAT WE HAVE WITH THE RSP GROUP.
SO THE JUNIOR HIGH IS A TARGETED CAMPUS, BUT EVERY CAMPUS ACTUALLY IMPLEMENTS THOSE KIND OF STRATEGIES? THIS IS FOR THE JUNIOR HIGH.
SO OTHER CAMPUSES DO HAVE EMBEDDED STRATEGIES FOR CRITICAL WRITING, BUT THOSE SIX THAT I'M TALKING ABOUT ARE THOSE THAT THE JUNIOR HIGH CAME UP WITH AND PRESENTED PROFESSIONAL LEARNING AT THE JUNIOR HIGH. BUT YOU DO FIND OTHER STRATEGIES ACROSS EVERY CAMPUS FOR CRITICAL WRITING.
YOU SAID THIS IS THE THIRD YEAR, THIRD AND FINAL YEAR.
FIGURE OUT A WAY TO CONTINUE THIS OR ARE WE THINKING ABOUT CONTINUING IT? WHAT'S THE PLAN? THE CONTINUATION WILL HAPPEN WITHOUT RSP.
THE GOAL OF RSP IS TO EMBED THE WORK SO THAT THE CAMPUSES CAN CONTINUE ON.
SO WE'RE SPENDING THIS YEAR PRACTICING A STRATEGY AROUND CRITICAL WRITING THAT WILL WE WANT TO SEE IF IT'S FRUITFUL TO STAY AT THE JUNIOR HIGH AND THEN CARRY ON THE STRATEGIES NOT NECESSARILY MIRROR, BUT CARRY THOSE STRATEGIES ON TO OTHER CAMPUSES.
AND THAT'LL BE ONE OF YOUR TASKS TO MAKE SURE THAT'S CONTINUING.
YES, SIR. WAS THERE SOME KIND OF FUNDING INVOLVED WITH THIS FROM TIA? YEAH. SO THERE WAS FUNDING AROUND THIS.
IT'S HOW OUR DATA FILE DATA FLOW IS FUNDED AND THERE'S SOME ADDITIONAL FUNDING THAT CAME WITH IT.
IT WAS AT NO COST TO THE DISTRICT.
ANY OTHER QUESTION BOARD? NO. OKAY.
THANK YOU, MR. DAVISON. THANK YOU.
[Consider and/or Approve Guaranteed Maximum Price Amendment for Lockhart High School Additions and Renovations]
WE MOVE ON TO ITEM NINE, COMMUNICATION ACTION, A, CONSIDER AND OR APPROVED GUARANTEED MAXIMUM PRICE AMENDMENT FOR LOCKHART HIGH SCHOOL ADDITIONS AND RENOVATIONS. MISTER CHAPMAN.GOOD EVENING BOARD PRESIDENT WRIGHT, BOARD MEMBERS AND SUPERINTENDENT ESTRADA.
UM, AS WE SEE HERE, MARCH 7TH, THE BUDGET WAS 80,667,494 SEEING WAS APPROVED ON THE 15TH CORPS. CONSTRUCTION TRADE PARTNER BID WAS AUGUST 17TH.
THE GNP REVIEW, AUGUST 22ND AND FINAL GNP WAS TODAY ON AUGUST 28TH.
WE ARE RIGHT NOW THE ESTIMATED TOTAL OF 18,682,891.
[00:55:03]
AND AS YOU CAN SEE, THE BOTTOM RIGHT THERE PROJECTED BUDGET WAS 18.667494, WHICH PUTS US ABOUT RIGHT AT 15,397 OVER WHAT WE PROJECTED AT THE BEGINNING.AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, THAT IS ACTUALLY 0.08%.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S THE WORD I'M LOOKING FOR, NICOLE.
HOW DO I SAY THAT? CHANCES OF THAT HAPPENING.
THAT'S WHAT IT WAS. I'M SORRY.
MR. CHAIRMAN, JUST TO CLARIFY, IN TERMS OF WE HAD A COUPLE OF THINGS.
IF YOU GO BACK TO THIS SLIDE YOU WERE JUST ON.
HOW DO I GO BACK? OH, THERE IT IS.
JUST LIKE TO POINT OUT FOR FOR THE BOARD AND FOR THE PUBLIC, WE WERE DISCUSSING A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT OPTIONS, YOU KNOW, IN SITUATIONS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO AFFORD EXPANDING THE CAFETERIA.
WE HAD A COUPLE OF PLANS THERE.
AND THEN THE FINE ARTS EXPANSION AS WELL.
BOTH OF THOSE ARE INCLUDED IN IN THESE ESTIMATES.
BEFORE WE VOTE. BUT WERE THERE ANY ANY ANY OTHER QUESTIONS BY THE BOARD? WERE YOU FINISHED, MR. CHAPMAN? YES, SIR.
OKAY. WE HAVE A MOTION. WE HAVE A SECOND.
ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE? AYE. ANY OPPOSED? PASSES 7 TO 0.
THANK YOU, SIR. YOU'RE THE PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT.
ALL THE BEST TO GET THIS DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER.
[Consider and/or Approve Caldwell County Appraisal District Board of Directors Nominees]
WE WILL NOW MOVE TO ITEM NINE BE CONSIDERED AND OR APPROVED.CALDWELL COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINEES.
SO DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANYBODY THEY WANT TO NOMINATE? I WANT TO NOMINATE ALFREDO MUNOZ.
LISA GUYTON. LISA GUYTON KNOW WE'VE DONE.
ANYBODY ELSE WHO WAS THE LADY? THE LADY THAT EMAILED US WAS KAITLYN CAB CAB.
KB IS THE ONE THAT EMAILED ME AND I'M OKAY WITH HER.
EMAILED ME AS WELL. YEAH, I GUESS I DIDN'T GET OKAY WITH ADDING HER NAME TO THE LIST.
SO HOW MANY DO WE GET TO NOMINATE? OH, OKAY. OKAY. YEAH, WE CAN ADD HER.
I'M OKAY WITH ADDING WITH ALFREDO MUNOZ.
AND WHAT WAS THE NAME? KAITLYN.
B E. OH, I'VE GOT TO WRITE IT DOWN.
SO WE HAVE. AFRAID PHOTO WOULD BE GOOD.
I DON'T THINK THAT HE'S FEELING VERY WELL.
FEELING BETTER NOW AFTER THAT.
I USED TO LIKE THOSE MEETINGS.
OKAY, SO WE HAVE THE TWO NAMES.
HAVE A MOTION. I MAKE A MOTION THAT WE APPROVE THE TWO NAMES THAT WERE SUBMITTED.
WE HAVE A MOTION. WE HAVE A SECOND.

OKAY. I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT AND YOU PROBABLY SEEN KORINE HAS SENT OUT A NUMBER OF APPOINTMENTS REGARDING THE UPCOMING COMMUNITY MEETINGS WITH THE ABOUT THE THAT BE HOSTED BY MR. ESTRADA. IT WOULD BE NICE IF THAT WE AT LEAST HAD ONE BOARD MEMBER AT EVERY ONE OF THESE MEETINGS.
OKAY. MR. ESTRADA? YES, A FEW THINGS.
