SO SOME OF THOSE SCHOOLS ARE YOUR NEIGHBORS AND OTHERS ARE FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE STATE. BUT AGAIN, THESE WERE SELECTED FROM THE LIST THAT WAS PROVIDED TO US. THE FIRST THING THAT THEY WANT TO SEE IS YOUR ACCOUNTABILITY RATING TO ASSIGNS YOU A SCORE A YEARLY FROM A TO F, AND ALSO A NUMERIC SCORE FOR EACH DISTRICT YOUR DISTRICT RATING WAS A C. YOUR ACTUAL SCORE WAS A 75 AND YOUR PEER DISTRICT AVERAGE SCORE WAS A 76. SO YOU CAN SEE THAT THAT'S PRETTY MUCH IN LINE WITH YOUR PEER DISTRICT AVERAGE. AND THAT'S A TRUE THING. SOMETIMES PARENTS WANT TO SPEAK UP, BUT THEY DON'T WANT RETALIATION ON THEM OR ALSO THEIR STUDENT. I'VE HEARD THAT PLENTY OF TIMES FROM PARENTS, AND SO THAT'S NOT MY PLIGHT. BUT JUST BEING IN THE COMMUNITY, THAT'S SOMETHING THAT I HOPE WE ARE CHALLENGED TO CONSIDER AS WELL. NEXT THING IS, SOMETHING THAT I DO HAVE A PERSONAL STAKE IN IS REGARDING THE HANDBOOK. LAST YEAR, WE HAD ALL OF OUR BILINGUAL CLASSES IN GRADES TWO THROUGH FIVE, AND OUR CASE MANAGEMENT STUDENTS AT THE JUNIOR HIGH GRADES SIX THROUGH EIGHT, USING THE LISTENING AND SPEAKING. AND BASED OFF OF THE DATA THAT WE HAVE SEEN, WE DECIDED SINCE OUR STUDENTS WERE MAKING GOOD POSITIVE GROWTH THAT WE ADDED THE READING AND WRITING COMPONENT TO SUMMIT K-12 FOR GRADES TWO THROUGH FIVE BILINGUAL CLASSES. ONE OF THE WONDERFUL THINGS ABOUT LAST SCHOOL YEAR WAS THAT WE WERE KNOWN NATIONWIDE AS ONE OF THE TOP TEN SCHOOL DISTRICTS FOR SPEAKING IN SUMMIT K-12. SO IT WAS A GREAT THING TO CELEBRATE FOR OUR DEPARTMENT. AND IN ALIGNMENT WITH OUR DISTRICT'S GOALS OF RETAINING AND RECRUITING HIGHLY QUALIFIED STAFF. WE KNOW THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR CURRENT BILINGUAL TEACHERS, AND SO WE HAVE ADDED THIS YEAR TWO EMERGENT BILINGUAL LEVER LEADERS AT ABS. AND IN ORDER TO RECRUIT HIGHLY QUALIFIED BILINGUAL TEACHERS, WE VISITED THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY AT UTRGV LAST YEAR AND WERE SUCCESSFUL AT THEIR JOB FAIRS, BUT I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT SEEKING ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY AT TEXAS A&M SAN ANTONIO THIS YEAR, AND SO WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING POTENTIAL CANDIDATES. THIS PAST SCHOOL YEAR, WE WERE ABLE TO SEND SEVERAL TEACHERS AND STAFF MEMBERS TO THE TEXAS ASSOCIATION FOR BILINGUAL EDUCATORS TABE CONFERENCE. WE HAD 13 STAFF MEMBER LAST YEAR. WE ACTUALLY JUST HAD A GROUP OF STAFF MEMBERS THAT CAME BACK ON SATURDAY FROM THIS LEARNING FROM THE SCHOOL YEAR, AND WE'RE REALLY EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO HEAR WHAT THOSE TEACHERS ARE GOING TO BE SHARING WITH THEIR NEW LEARNING WITH US. SO THAT'S A HUGE CELEBRATION FOR OUR STAFF TO BE ABLE TO GO OUT AND PRESENT AND SHARE SOME OF THE GREAT THINGS THAT WE'RE DOING HERE IN LOCKHART. AND THEN ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY WAS OUR SECOND ANNUAL SOMOS EDCAMP. AND JUST A REMINDER THAT EDCAMP'S ARE VOLUNTARY AND THEY'RE HELD ON A SATURDAY. WE HAD 85 STUDENTS THAT ATTENDED THAT HAD JUST COMPLETED PRE-K OR KINDERGARTEN. WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GAIN MORE AND MORE PARTICIPATION FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS. LAST YEAR WE HAD ABOUT 70 STUDENTS, THE YEAR PRIOR WAS 60, SO WE WERE REALLY EXCITED TO SEE 85 THIS PAST SUMMER AND THIS REALLY JUST HELPED TO CLOSE THOSE GAPS. SO MAKE SURE THAT BETWEEN WE DON'T HAVE THAT SUMMER SLIDE BETWEEN THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AND THE BEGINNING OF THE NEXT. SO THIS IS OUR, WHY RIGHT HERE. AND SOMETIMES THEIR SCORE IN SPANISH IS NOT SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER THAN THEIR ENGLISH SCORE. AND SO THEN AS AN LPAC AS A COMMITTEE, WE MEET TO DETERMINE WHAT IS BEST PLACEMENT FOR THAT STUDENT. WITH PARENT PERMISSION, THEY DETERMINE BILINGUAL PLACEMENT OR ESL PLACEMENT WHERE THEY'RE GETTING INSTRUCTION IN ENGLISH WITH VISUAL SUPPORTS, TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE, AND DIFFERENT INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES TO SUPPORT THAT STUDENT WHO IS LEARNING THEIR SECOND LANGUAGE BUT IS MORE DOMINANT IN ENGLISH. SO LAST SCHOOL YEAR WE HAD AS YOU CAN SEE, WE HAD NINE STUDENTS THAT ENDED UP RECLASSIFYING, BUT THAT'S BASED OFF OF THE CRITERIA OF HAVING TO GET ADVANCED HIGH IN LISTENING, SPEAKING, READING, AND WRITING. AND THEY ALSO HAD TO SCORE AT LEAST APPROACHES ON THEIR STAAR READING EXAM. SO WE FEEL THAT THE STATE THIS IS GOING TO BE BETTER FOR OUR STUDENTS TOO, SO THEY CAN RECLASSIFY THIS SCHOOL YEAR. ANOTHER QUESTION. JUST BECAUSE I USED TO DO SOME OF THIS, YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT RECLASSIFYING. IN MATH, IT'S 70% OF THE STUDENTS IN K THROUGH ALGEBRA ONE AROUND THAT ONE YEAR'S PROGRESS, SO THAT WE CAN STAY LOCKED ON EXCELLENCE AND RELENTLESSLY PURSUE TARGETS SO THAT THEY DEMONSTRATE MORE THAN THAT YEAR OF ACADEMIC GROWTH. SO JUST A QUICK REMINDER ABOUT THE STRATEGIC SUPPORTS THAT WE PROVIDE TO NOT ONLY OUR CAMPUSES BUT OUR FAMILIES. ALL THREE OF THOSE CAMPUSES LED THE ENTIRE DISTRICT, SO WE ARE VERY HOPEFUL THAT WE'RE GOING TO HIT THAT 80%, BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT THESE CAMPUSES WILL FINISH OFF STRONG, WHILE THESE OTHER CAMPUSES HAVE SHOWN US STRONGER START. FOR THE SECONDARY READING REN LEARN, YOU'LL SEE THAT WE DID DRAW UP A PERCENTAGE POINT ACROSS THE DISTRICT, ONE AT THE JUNIOR HIGH, SEVERAL POINTS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL. BUT WHEN YOU LOOK ACROSS THE BOARD, LOOKING AT THAT 70% TARGET, BEING ABLE TO SAY THAT WE'RE BEYOND WHERE WE WERE AT THIS POINT LAST YEAR IS GREAT NEWS. OKAY TEAM, WE'RE GOING TO GO INTO CBA 1 DATA. SO THE PLAN WAS BUILT ON THESE PRINCIPLES. AND JUST AS AN OVERALL FINANCIAL PICTURE, THIS IS KIND OF HOW IT SHOOK OUT, SO TOTAL CONTRIBUTIONS INTO THE PLAN WERE JUST OVER 4 MILLION. THAT'S PARTLY FROM EMPLOYEES PAYING MONEY OUT OF THEIR PAYCHECKS. THE DISTRICTS CONTRIBUTING. OUR WORST CASE SCENARIO WAS 4.1 OR 4 POINT, 4 MILLION 163, AND OUR ACTUAL PLAN COST WAS THAT. I'VE HAD A COUPLE OF PEOPLE COMMENT ON THE THINGS, BAND DIRECTORS COMMENT ON THE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING IN THE LOCKHART BAND PROGRAM. AND YOU KNOW, I'M EXTREMELY PROUD WHEN OTHER BAND DIRECTORS ONE CALLED AND SAID, WHAT'S GOING ON IN LOCKHART? I SAID, WHAT DO YOU MEAN? HE SAID, MAN, WE HEARD THEM IN SEGUIN AND IT WAS JUST AMAZING AND I MISSED. SO THEY'RE DOING SOME GREAT THINGS AND IT'S JUST REALLY GOOD TO HEAR. I DIDN'T GET TO SEE THEM IN PRELIMS IN SEGUIN BECAUSE I WAS DOING SOME, BUT I MADE SURE I MADE IT TO FINALS AFTER BEING CALLED AND TOLD WHAT'S GOING ON.
