MR. CASTILLO, YOU MAY STEP FORWARD.
AND FOR THE RECORD, WOULD YOU STATE YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS, PLEASE? JOHN CASTILLO 1106 RED RIVER HERE IN LOCKHART, TEXAS.
THANK YOU, BOARD, FOR ALLOWING ME TO SPEAK THIS THIS EVENING TO Y'ALL.
I COME BEFORE YOU. NOT ON GOOD TERMS. UNFORTUNATELY, I DIDN'T THINK I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO COME AND SPEAK IN REGARDS TO OUR CURRENT SUPERINTENDENT.
I DEALT WITH MR. ESTRADA OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS ON ISSUES IN REGARDING PERSONAL MATTERS AS FRIENDS OF MINE WHO FELT THEY WERE BEING HARASSED WHILE WORKING HERE AT THE LOCKHART ISD, AND ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES WHO WAS BEING HARASSED IN 2019.
AND THE ONLY WAY THAT WAS RESOLVED IS WHEN, THE SUPERVISOR FOUND ANOTHER JOB.
SO THAT'S HOW THAT WAS RESOLVED.
AND IN 2021, I CAME TO THIS, TO HERE TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING AND SPOKEN TO THE SUPERINTENDENT ABOUT SOME ISSUES THAT WERE GOING ON WITH THE, ATHLETIC DIRECTOR AND THE CURRENT, AT THE TIME, BASKETBALL COACH.
AND I TOLD HIM THAT THERE WAS SOME ISSUES GOING ON IF HE WOULD ADDRESS THEM, AND HE DID TELL ME HE WOULD APPROACH, YOU KNOW, THE SITUATION AND TRY TO HANDLE IT THE BEST WAY HE COULD.
AND THEN LATER THAT YEAR, A AUTOMOTIVE TEACHER WAS REASSIGNED AND DEMOTED, AND, NOBODY REALLY SAID ANYTHING WHY? IT HAPPENED. IT JUST HAPPENED.
[00:15:07]
TIME WENT AHEAD AND, DEMOTED THAT INDIVIDUAL AFTER TWO YEARS OF HAVING TO DEAL WITH THAT NEGATIVE AND THAT TYPE OF BEHAVIOR THAT WAS BEING CONDUCTED DURING THAT TIME.I DIDN'T ATTEND MANY FOOTBALL GAMES, BUT I HEARD, YOU KNOW, THE STUFF GOING ON.
SO I WENT TO A GAME IN PIPER, AND WHEN I WAS THERE I SAW A, I GUESS, A REGULAR FAN OR SOMEBODY CLOSE TO THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT WEARING A SHIRT, SAID PROGRAM OVER FEELINGS.
AND TO ME, I WAS JUST LIKE, WELL, THERE'S A PATTERN HERE.
THERE'S SOMETHING THAT'S GOING ON.
IT. THERE HAS NOBODY'S SAYING ANYTHING.
I JUST SEE STUFF ON SOCIAL MEDIA THAT'S GOING HERE AND THERE.
I'M JUST SAYING THAT I'M HERE TODAY TO SPEAK ON AND THAT SOMETHING HAS TO BE SAID, SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE, AND SOMETHING HOPEFULLY WILL GET RESOLVED. BECAUSE YOU SEE THE PATTERN THAT'S HAPPENING FROM 2019 TO 2024.
I'M JUST UP HERE TODAY TO TRY TO SAY, HEY, WHAT HAPPENS IN THE DARK NEEDS TO BE SHOWN BEING BROUGHT TO LIGHT, AND I THINK WE ALL NEED TO DO OUR BEST TO TRY TO KNOW THAT WE'RE IN LEADERSHIP ROLES.
BUT WHEN WE'RE IN LEADERSHIP ROLES, SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO BE CALLED OUT AND TOLD, LET'S REASSESS WHAT WE'RE DOING AND LET'S TRY TO BE BETTER LEADERS IN THIS COMMUNITY.
I KNOW BEING A TEACHER AND AN EDUCATOR IS A TOUGH JOB, BUT WHEN YOU HAVE THESE LITTLE FACTIONS WORKING TOGETHER BECAUSE WE DON'T LIKE ONE ANOTHER, BUT IT'S A HARD JOB THAT THESE EDUCATORS ARE DOING AND TRYING TO TEACH OUR KIDS TO BE BETTER.
AND ALSO ANOTHER THING IS MANNERISM.
I MEAN, THESE ARE PEOPLE'S LIVELIHOODS YOU'RE DEALING WITH.
AND AT THE END OF THE DAY, THE KIDS ARE THE ONES THAT ARE SUFFERING.
SO I'M SORRY TO BRING THIS UP TO YOU, BUT I HOPE YOU ALL REALLY TAKE THIS TO HEART AND REALLY CONSIDER LOOKING INTO THE ACTIONS THAT'S BEEN OCCURRING, NOT JUST RECENTLY, BUT I'VE TOLD YOU BACK FROM 2019.
AND CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING RECOGNIZED, BECAUSE I KNOW THE JOB THAT YOU ALL ARE DOING IS NOT EASY.
BUT AT THE SAME TIME, I KNOW IT'S WELL RESPECTED, FROM MY POINT.
THANK YOU SIR. BEFORE WE MOVE ON TO ITEM SIX CLOSED SESSION, WE'RE GOING TO, MOVE ONE ITEM UP.
ITEM 10 COMMUNICATION, D LOCKHART NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NUMBER 6, DESIGN REVIEW.

WE WERE ROBERT AND I WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT IT, AND, YOU KNOW, WE SEE A LOT OF PROJECTS ON A DAILY BASIS, AND THIS IS ONE THAT WE'RE EXTREMELY EXCITED ABOUT. AND EVEN THE GUYS WHO DID THE RENDERINGS, IN-HOUSE, I SENT ALL THOSE GUYS AN EMAIL THANKING THEM FOR ALL THEIR EFFORT THAT THEY PUT INTO BUILDING THIS VIDEO, BECAUSE THIS TOOK ABOUT A MONTH'S WORTH OF TIME FOR OUR GUYS TO PUT TOGETHER.
SO THEY WERE LIKE, MAN, THIS HAS BEEN AN ABSOLUTE BLAST AND WHAT AN AWESOME DESIGN.
I MEAN, YOU GUYS HAD A HAND IN EVERY SINGLE BIT OF THIS.

WE RECOMMEND THAT THE BOARD APPROVE THIS GMP.
ADMINISTRATION DOES. OKAY, I MOVE THAT THE BOARD APPROVE THE ADMINISTRATION'S RECOMMENDATION OF THE GUARANTEED MAXIMUM PRICE AMENDMENT AS SET FORTH IN THE AIAA133-2009 EXHIBIT A.

I'LL SECOND. WE HAVE A MOTION.
WE HAVE A SECOND. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE.
AYE. ANY OPPOSED? PASSES 7 TO 0.
[Progress Monitoring Data on District Achievement Targets]
WE MOVE ON TO ITEM 10 COMMUNICATION A PROGRESS MONITORING DATA ON DISTRICT ACHIEVEMENT TARGETS.BOARD PRESIDENT WRIGHT. MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, SUPERINTENDENT ESTRADA.
I AM GOING TO PRESENT OUR TARGETS AND OUR PROGRESS MONITORING FOR JANUARY 2024.
JUST A REMINDER THAT OUR TARGETS FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR IS 80% OF OUR STUDENTS IN GRADES PRE-K THROUGH FIVE AND 70% OF OUR 6TH THROUGH 10TH GRADERS WILL MAKE 1.5 YEARS PROGRESS IN READING FOR THE SAME SCHOOL YEAR, 70% OF OUR STUDENTS K THROUGH ALGEBRA ONE WILL MAKE 1.5 YEARS PROGRESS IN MATH.
SO I'LL START OFF WITH STUDENT AND PARENT COMMUNICATIONS.
SO BESIDES THE PROGRESS REPORTS THAT ARE PROVIDED TO PARENTS AND STUDENTS AND WEEKLY NEWSLETTERS THAT COME FROM CAMPUSES, WE ALSO HAVE SEESAW AND READYROSIE THAT'S BEING USED BY THE PRE-K.
BUT I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT THAT WE CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON CORE VALUE TWO, OR IT'S ALSO UNDER LEADER IN ME CORE TWO, WHERE STUDENTS ARE, DOING THEIR OWN PROGRESS MONITORING.
IF YOU WALK AROUND CAMPUSES, YOU WILL ALSO SEE THAT CAMPUSES HAVE YEARLY GOALS.
IN ADDITION TO THAT, I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT THAT THE HIGH SCHOOL HAS STARTED POSITIVE REFERRALS.
SO TYPICALLY WHEN WE THINK OF A REFERRAL, IT'S FOR SOMETHING NOT SO POSITIVE.
THE CAMPUS HAS STARTED POSITIVE REFERRALS, WHERE CAMPUS MEMBERS CAN SEND A POSITIVE REFERRAL ABOUT A STUDENT DOING SOMETHING APPROPRIATE, FINDING, DOING SOMETHING AROUND, OUR DISTRICT VALUES, AND THEN THEY GET AWARDED FOR DOING SO.
WE CONTINUE WITH OUR CAMPUS PROGRESS MONITORING.
SO CAMPUSES, ARE STILL CONTINUING TO RESPOND TO ALL SETS OF DATA.
SO CAMPUSES ARE CONTINUING TO DO THAT.
WE THREAD THE SHARED LEADERSHIP PLCS ON THE DISTRICT SIDE.
AND THEN ON THE C&I SIDE, WE THREAD THE NEW PROFESSION AS WELL AS JUST IN TIME TRAINING.
[00:30:05]
WE GO OUT AND WE DO JUST IN TIME TRAINING SO THAT THE INFORMATION CAN COME FROM THE BOARD ROOM TO THE LIVING ROOM.READING DATA, I WILL SHOW YOU ISTATION DATA.
THERE IS NO RENAISSANCE LEARNING UNTIL FEBRUARY.
THAT'S BEEN A TREND FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS.
SO WE'LL ONLY BE LOOKING AT ISTATION DATA TODAY.
SO HERE YOU SEE THE FIRST SET OF DATA FOR 1.5 GROWTH GOAL IN ELEMENTARY.
SO AS YOU LOOK ACROSS THE GRAPHS, YOU WILL NOTICE THAT A FEW CAMPUSES DID DIP FROM MONTH TO MONTH, DECEMBER TO JANUARY, AND WE DID HAVE TWO CAMPUSES THAT DID SHOW INCREASES.
SO ALTHOUGH WE DID SHOW, A 2% DIP IN THE DISTRICT OVERALL, AND THOSE WERE LED BY THOSE TWO CAMPUSES, ONE CAMPUS IN PARTICULAR HAD ONE CLASS ACROSS K THROUGH FIVE THAT SHOWED DIPS WITH ONE BILINGUAL COURSE, I'M SORRY, ONE BILINGUAL CLASS AND THE OTHER CAMPUS, THE LOWEST PERFORMERS OR THOSE NOT REACHING THEIR 1.5 GOAL WERE IN FIRST AND FOURTH GRADE.
I AM HAPPY TO SAY, THOUGH, THAT ALTHOUGH WE HAVE A COUPLE OF CAMPUSES HERE THAT DID DIP FROM MONTH TO MONTH WE DID TALK ABOUT THAT WINTER FREEZE AND COMING BACK IN JANUARY. ALL CAMPUSES BESIDES ONE SHOWED INCREASES FROM THIS TIME, SAME POINT LAST YEAR.
SO WE'RE STILL TRYING TO GATHER INFORMATION FROM WHAT WE DID OVER WINTER FREEZE FROM LIBRARIANS.
SO THAT'S GOOD FOR OUR REACH AND OUR GOAL OF 80%.
SO WHEN THEY COME BACK FROM THE CHRISTMAS BREAK, THAT ASSESSMENT IS DONE THAT FIRST WEEK OR? IT'S TYPICALLY THAT FIRST WEEK.
SO THE MINUTE THEY OPEN UP THEIR THEIR CHROMEBOOKS OKAY.
YEAH. AND WE'VE TALKED ABOUT THAT.
THAT'S WHY WE DISCUSSED WINTER FREEZE.
SO WE DID HAVE SOME TIPS, AROUND.
I HAD MINE STUDYING THE WHOLE TIME.
OH, WE NEED WE NEED TO TALK AFTER THIS SO I CAN GET SOME POINTERS FROM YOU.
[LAUGHTER] I'M GOING TO SAY I STRUGGLED A LITTLE BIT AT HOME.
BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS, EVEN THOUGH WE SAW, WE MEAN WE SEE INCREASES HERE, WHICH IS GREAT.
KUDOS TO THE CAMPUSES THAT SHOWED INCREASES.
THEY STAYED OPEN LATE, AT LEAST ONE NIGHT DURING THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS BREAK STARTED.
YEAH, KUDOS TO THE LIBRARIANS.
WHEN THIS, YOU KNOW, WE DISCUSSED THIS AT THE BOARD MEETING ABOUT DOING SOMETHING OVER THE BREAK.
THEY REALLY JUMPED IN AND SAID, WHAT CAN WE DO? SO NOT ONLY THE LATE HOURS, ADDITIONAL HOURS, BUT COMING UP WITH THE BINGO CARDS AND CONTINUING TO LOOK FOR RESOURCES THAT THEY COULD PROVIDE, FAMILIES.
SO, KUDOS TO OUR CAMPUSES, INCLUDING ESPECIALLY THE LIBRARIANS AT THOSE CAMPUSES.
I REALLY LIKE THE READ OUT LOUD'S THAT THE PRINCIPALS DID TO ME.
THEY WERE PRETTY AWESOME. READING OUT LOUD.
SO NEXT HERE YOU SEE THE ISTATION TIER MOVEMENT.
SO THE TWO CAMPUSES I'M SORRY, THE THREE CAMPUSES THAT SHOW DIPS, IS ONE OF THE REASONS YOU'LL SEE A DIP IN TIER ONE AND AN INCREASE IN TIER TWO, AS WELL AS AN INCREASE IN TIER THREE. SO, THIS IS TYPICAL IN JANUARY.
THE DIP IS NOT AS LARGE AS WE'VE SEEN IT IN YEARS PAST.
BUT, YOU KNOW, THOSE FEW CAMPUSES HADN'T SHOWN THE DIPS.
WE MAY HAVE SEEN AN INCREASE IN TIER ONE.
NOW WE HAVE ISIP BY STUDENT PROGRAM.
KUDOS, KUDOS, KUDOS CHECK PLUS WHATEVER YOU WANT TO SAY ABOUT OUR EMERGING BILINGUAL STUDENTS.
SO IF YOU SEE THIS JUMP FROM DECEMBER TO JANUARY, IT LOOKS LIKE I MEAN, IT IS 2%.
IT'S THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS THAT WE'VE SEEN A JUMP OF ANY GROUP, WHEN WE COME BACK FROM JANUARY.
SO, GET THAT INFORMATION FROM LIBRARIANS.
I'D LOVE TO CONNECT IT TO WINTER FREEZE, BUT EITHER WAY, KUDOS TO OUR EMERGING BILINGUAL STUDENTS FOR SHOWING AND THE CAMPUSES THAT SUPPORT THEM THIS GROWTH FROM DECEMBER TO JANUARY. WHEN IT COMES TO THE ISIP READING, I WILL SAY THAT YOU SEE, THE STUDENTS WITH IEPS DID DROP, 1% FROM LAST YEAR.
[00:35:06]
THIS WAS MAINLY IN THE PRE-K THROUGH FIRST GRADE, WHICH IF YOU THINK ABOUT OUR READERS COMING BACK FROM A BREAK, IT DOES MAKE SENSE.ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE I MOVE ON TO MATH TEAM? SO IN MATH WE ONLY HAVE DREAMBOX.
I'LL GO OVER THE USAGE REPORT QUICK HERE AND SHORTLY.
THERE IS NO REN LEARN UNTIL FEBRUARY.
MUCH LIKE STAAR REN FOR ENGLISH.
BUT THE DIPS, WERE, A LITTLE BIT LARGER THAN WE'VE SEEN IN THE LAST TWO YEARS.
NEXT, I'LL GO OVER CBA 2 DATA.
SO A COUPLE OF THINGS BEFORE I GET INTO CBA TWO NUMBERS IS.
SOME OF THE NEW, PARTS OF THE STAAR AS COMPARED TO STAAR 1.0.
SO ALL STAAR TESTS HAVE NEW ITEM TYPES.
AND WHAT YOU SEE HERE ON THE RIGHT SIDE.
IS JUST THE MATH PART OF THIS GRAPH.
ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE WITH THE DIFFERENT IMAGES.
SO JUST WANTED TO REMIND EVERYBODY THAT WE DO HAVE NEW ITEM TYPES AND STAAR 2.0.
YES SIR. CAN YOU JUST EXPLAIN ITEM TYPE? I THINK THAT'S KIND OF OUR LINGO SPEAK THAT.
OKAY. SO BASICALLY WHAT NEW ITEM TYPES MEAN IS THEY EITHER THEY EDITED THE WAY QUESTIONS HAPPEN.
SO TYPICALLY YOU HAVE MULTIPLE CHOICE INSTEAD OF JUST CHOOSING A, B, C AND D YOU'LL SEE FOR EXAMPLE, ON THE MAP STAAR 2.0 IS THAT YOU HAVE A WAY TO EDIT EQUATIONS INSTEAD OF JUST DOING THEM, AND NOW INCLUDES STRAIGHT UP, YOU KNOW, WHERE YOU STILL HAVE TO YOU HAVE TO GRAPH INSTEAD OF JUST SHOWING THE ANSWER.
THERE'S HOT SPOTS, THERE'S PICKING MULTIPLE.
THEY HAVE TO THERE'S EXAMPLES WHERE YOU HAVE TO PICK MORE THAN ONE ANSWER AND A, B, C, AND D.
SO WHEN WE SAY NEW ITEM TYPES, IT'S NEW VERSIONS OF QUESTIONS THAT GO BEYOND JUST MULTIPLE CHOICE.
THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE SHORT CONSTRUCTED RESPONSE OR EXTENDED CONSTRUCTOR RESPONSE.
THOSE ARE CONSIDERED NEW ITEM TYPES, BUT THE ONES OF THE IMAGES I HAVE UP HERE ARE FOR MATH.
SO IT'S JUST, A MORE RIGOROUS WAY TO ASK A QUESTION FOR OUR STUDENTS IN THE NEW STAAR.
SO IN ADDITION TO THAT, I ADDED THE ELAR.
I JUST WANTED TO REMIND EVERYBODY THAT THERE'S AN EXTENDED AND THERE'S A SHORT.
THE SHORT CONSTRUCTED RESPONSES ARE ON EVERY EXAM.
IT'S A SHORT QUESTION, 1 OR 2 SENTENCES THAT THE KID HAS TO ANSWER.
YOU CAN ONLY GET TWO POINTS ON THE READING SECTION.
SO YOU HAVE AN ORGANIZATIONAL PIECE AND A CONVENTIONAL PIECE.
SO WHEN THE KID WRITES THAT FULL ESSAY, THESE ARE THE TWO PARTS.
ON THE ORGANIZATIONAL SIDE, IT HAS TO BE A CORRELATION TO THE MAIN IDEA.
AND YOU HAVE TO SUPPORT IT WITH EVIDENCE FROM THE TEXT, OR YOU WILL NOT GET IT SCORED.
ON THE CONVENTION PART THEY LOOK FOR GRAMMAR, SPELLING AND SENTENCE CONSTRUCTION.
NOTHING HAS CHANGED THAT IF YOU GET ZERO POINTS ON THE ORGANIZATIONAL SIDE.
SO IF YOU GET A ZERO ON THE ORGANIZATIONAL SIDE YOU GET ZERO POINTS.
AND IF WE GO BACK TO CBA ONE AND WE ALSO LOOK AT LAST YEAR'S STAAR, WRITING IS WHAT HAS BROUGHT OUR SCORES TO A POINT WHERE WE'RE, YOU KNOW, WE NEED TO SEE THEM INCREASE. SO JUST TO MAKE SURE WE BREAK THAT DOWN A LITTLE BIT.
SO IT'S POSSIBLE THAT A KID HAS PERFECT GRAMMAR SPELLS EVERY WORD CORRECTLY, PROPER PUNCTUATION.
EVEN IF THEIR WRITING IS WELL WRITTEN.
AND JUST A REMINDER, THIS IMAGE IS.
SO WHEN WE LOOK AT CBA ONE TO 2 TO 3 TO THE BENCHMARK, IT'S A CRAWL TO A RUN.
SO WE START OFF WITH CBA ONE, INCLUDING AS MANY NEW ITEM TYPES AS POSSIBLE.
AND THEN CBA 2, WE WENT FULL THROTTLE, SHORT CONSTRUCTED RESPONSES, PUT EVERYTHING IN.
[00:40:04]
WE MADE AS MANY, NEW ITEM TYPE QUESTIONS AS POSSIBLE, AS WELL AS SPIRALED IN SKILLS.SO THE CBA 2, WHICH YOU WILL SEE HERE.
THESE ARE THE STRATEGIC REVISIONS WE DID.
IT IS THE MOST ALIGNED ASSESSMENT WE HAVE PROVIDED OUR STUDENTS TO STAAR 2.0.
I KNOW IT'S ONLY BEEN IT'S BEEN A LITTLE UNDER A YEAR, BUT I'D LIKE TO GIVE KUDOS TO THE C AND I TEAM AND TO OUR LEVER LEADERS WHO HAVE VETTED THESE ASSESSMENTS, BECAUSE THIS IS THE MOST ALIGNED TO STAAR.0 THAT WE HAVE PROVIDED.
AND THIS IS WHAT WE DID TO THIS LAST CBA 2.
AND SO IT'S ALREADY BEEN ADMINISTERED.
YES, MA'AM. SO WE'RE ABOUT TO GO OVER RESULTS AND CBA.
WE WAITED ON RESULTS BECAUSE THE HIGH SCHOOL PROVIDES CBA 2 AS THEIR, SEMESTER EXAM.
SO ALL THOSE CBA THREE IS COMING UP HERE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS.
THIS IS CBA TWO, WHICH WAS DONE IN NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER OF LAST YEAR.
WHAT WE'RE DOING AND WHAT WE'VE DONE.
SO BEFORE I GET INTO THE DATA, I WANT TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR RESPONSE PLAN.
SO EVERY CAMPUS HAS A PROGRESS MONITORING PLAN WHERE THEY REVIEW THE DATA NOT ONLY WITH THEIR LEADERSHIP BUT ALSO TEAMS. EVERY SINGLE CAMPUS HAS A WRITING FOCUS.
EVERY ELEMENTARY IS FOCUSING ON, WRITING THROUGH LOOKING AT, DEFICIENT STANDARDS AND DOING SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION, AS WELL AS GOING, WE SENT TEACHERS AND LEADERS FROM EACH CAMPUS TO REGION 13 TO GO OVER SHORT CONSTRUCTED RESPONSES.
AND WHAT, REGION 13 IS HEARING FROM TEA.
AND THEY'RE COMPARING PRE ASSESSED SKILLS AND THOSE PERCENTAGES TO REASSESSING THEM.
STUDENTS THAT DO NOT SHOW PROGRESS ARE GETTING INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORTS.
IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT WRITING, BUT, IF YOU WERE TO WALK A CAMPUS OR YOU WERE TO TALK TO A CAMPUS LEADER, YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR WRITING FROM EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, KNOWING THAT WE'VE SEEN SOME GAINS, BUT WE STILL HAVE SOME WORK TO DO.
IN ADDITION TO THAT, C AND I SUPPORT.
SO, KUDOS TO TODD MCBRIDE AND BELINDA VASQUEZ.
THEY MET WITH EVERY SINGLE ELEMENTARY CAMPUS TO DISCUSS.
I GUESS I GOT CUT OFF, SO MY APOLOGIES.
THEY MET WITH EVERY SINGLE CAMPUS TO DISCUSS THE ACTUAL WRITING DATA BY TEACHER, BY GRADE LEVEL.
AND THEN THEY CAN REACH OUT TO US AND LET US KNOW, AND WE'LL DO THAT JUST IN TIME TRAINING .
CALIBRATION OF SCORING IS STILL SOMETHING THAT WE'RE WORKING ON.
SOME CAMPUSES ACROSS CERTAIN GRADE LEVELS ARE DOING A GREAT JOB IN CALIBRATING THE WRITING PORTIONS.
SO HERE YOU HAVE THIRD GRADE ELAR FOR CBA 2.
I DO WANT TO SAY THAT THIS IS THE GRADE LEVEL NEXT TO ENGLISH TWO AT THE HIGH SCHOOL THAT SCORED THE MOST STUDENTS WITH ZEROS ON THEIR WRITING.
SO WHEN THAT IS UP TO 30% OF THIS EXAM, IT'S GOING TO BRING DOWN THE SCORES THAT WE SEE.
SO THIRD GRADE AND ENGLISH TWO SCORED KIDS I SHOULDN'T SAY THE HARDEST.
THEY GAVE MORE KIDS ZEROS BY PERCENTAGE THAN ANY OTHER GRADE LEVEL.
AND WE DID PULL THIS DATA WITHOUT ESSAYS.
AND IF YOU DID NOT HAVE ESSAYS WHICH IS NOT ACCURATE.
RIGHT. WE'RE GOING TO HAVE ESSAYS ON THE STAAR TEST THIS COMING YEAR.
IT WOULD SHOW A 10 TO 15% INCREASE.
[00:45:09]
AND I'M HAPPY TO SAY THAT WE SAW THAT IN FOURTH GRADE.SO WHEN I LOOKED AT FOURTH, I'M SORRY, THIS IS THIRD GRADE MATH.
MY APOLOGIES. I GOT AHEAD OF MYSELF BECAUSE I WAS EXCITED ABOUT FOURTH GRADE.
SO, THIRD GRADE, THIS ALSO HAD THE NEW ITEM TYPES.
WE'RE ALSO AHEAD AT THREE OF THE FIVE CAMPUSES FOR THE NUMBER OF PASSERS AT THIS POINT.
SO MATH IS CHUGGING ALONG AT THIRD GRADE.
WE TYPICALLY GET A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT MATH AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR.
BUT WE'RE HOLDING STEADY AND DOING BETTER IN SOME PLACES.
SO, WE EXPECT GREAT RESULTS FROM THE MATH ACROSS THE DISTRICT.
AND THEN HERE IS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT IN FOURTH GRADE ELAR.
SO AROUND THE SAME DATA, BY PULLING THE ESSAYS.
SO WHAT THAT TELLS US IS, IS OUR WRITING AND OUR FOCUS ON WRITING IS ACTUALLY BENEFITING OUR KIDS.
SO WE HAVE MORE PASSERS BECAUSE OF THEIR WRITING THAN WE DID IN CBA ONE AND STAAR LAST YEAR.
WHAT WE NEED TO DO NEXT, AND YOU'LL SEE THIS ACROSS THE BOARD IN A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT GRADE LEVELS, IS WE'RE SCORING IN THE 2 TO 4 RANGE, WHICH IMPROVED THE APPROACHES. SO THE NUMBER OF KIDS HERE THAT PASSED INCREASED, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU COMPARE IT TO THIRD GRADE.
THAT WILL CONTINUE INTO MEETS AND MASTERS AS WE GET KIDS INTO THE 5 TO 7 RANGE.
SO JUST A REMINDER THAT EXTENDED RESPONSE IS ON A FIVE POINT SCALE, BUT IT'S GRADED BY TWO PEOPLE.
SO THE MOST POINTS YOU CAN GET IS TEN.
IF YOU'RE AVERAGING THAT 0 TO 3, YOU'RE GOING TO MAYBE GET TO APPROACHES.
IF YOU DO WELL ON THE MULTIPLE CHOICE PART AND NEW ITEM TYPES, YOU GET THAT 5 TO 7.
THEN YOU START SEEING MORE KIDS PASS AND THEN IT TRICKLES INTO MEETS AND MASTERS.
CONTINUING TO LOOK GOOD SOLID.
WHEN WE LOOK AT LOCKHART OVERALL IN FOURTH GRADE, WE ARE A TAD BEHIND WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR.
WHEN IT COMES TO THE NUMBER OF PASSERS WE'RE PRETTY EQUAL TO, WE WERE WITH MEETS AND A LITTLE BIT BELOW IN MASTERS, BUT LIKE I SAID, WE TEND TO WORRY ABOUT MATH AT THIS POINT OF THE YEAR WHERE WE SEE IT INCREASE OVER CBA THREE AS WELL AS BENCHMARK AND WE DON'T SEE THAT CHANGING FOR THE UPCOMING YEAR.
SO FIFTH GRADE ELAR EXCEPT AT NAVARRO OUR ESSAYS DID NOT HELP THE STUDENTS AT THIS GRADE, SO WE STILL HAVE TOO MANY. WE HAVE KIDS RANGING IN THE 3 TO 5, SO THAT'S WHY YOU'LL SEE THAT THERE ARE MORE APPROACHES THAN IN THIRD AND FOURTH.
BUT AT FIFTH GRADE, WE EXPECT STUDENTS WRITING TO BE, IMPROVED.
SO WE DO NEED TO SEE AS A PUSH FOR, SCORES ON THAT EXTENDED ESSAY FROM 5 TO 7 LEVEL.
I'LL GO BACK TO WHAT WE ARE DOING, THE STRATEGIC SUPPORTS AS EVERYBODY IS DOING WRITING, AND WE EXPECT THOSE SCORES TO SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE TO THAT 5 TO 7 RANGE BY THE TIME WE GET TO THE BENCHMARK.
THERE IS ALSO A DISCREPANCY IN THIS GRADE LEVEL BETWEEN CAMPUSES.
FOR THERE ARE TWO CAMPUSES THAT RATED FIFTH GRADERS WITH 20% MORE ZEROS THAN THEIR COLLEAGUES.
SO WHEN I TALK ABOUT, MAKING SURE THAT CAMPUSES ARE AS ALIGNED AS POSSIBLE, AT LEAST ALONG, AT LEAST WITHIN THEIR CAMPUS OF THOSE TWO CAMPUSES WILL HAVE CONVERSATIONS WITH IT'S WHAT, TODD AND BELINDA DID, BUT HAVING A REVIEW WITH THEM ABOUT MAKING SURE CALIBRATION HAS HAPPENED, AT LEAST ON THEIR CAMPUS, WHEN THERE'S A SPECIFIC GRADE LEVEL SCORING ZEROS MORE THAN OTHER GRADE LEVELS, WE JUST HAVE TO BE COGNIZANT THAT COULD ABSOLUTELY BE THE CASE.
BUT WHEN YOU HAVE AN ANOMALY LIKE THAT, 20% SEEMS A LITTLE HIGH.
THOSE CAMPUSES WILL BE THERE'LL BE A DISCUSSION WITH THEM TO MAKE SURE CALIBRATION IS HAPPENING.
LOOKING GOOD ACROSS THE BOARD, RELATIVELY THE SAME AS WE WERE LAST YEAR.
OKAY, SIXTH GRADE. YOU WILL SEE BOTH ENGLISH AND MATH HERE.
SIXTH GRADE ELAR IS IDENTICAL TO WHAT WE SAW ACROSS THE BOARD WITH FOURTH GRADE IN OUR DISTRICT.
IF YOU REMOVE ESSAYS, THEIR SCORES WILL ACTUALLY DROP.
[00:50:03]
RSSP OR FOCUS ON WRITING.WHEN THOSE GET TO AT LEAST THREES TO FIVES, YOU'LL SEE MORE KIDS PASS.
AT THE APPROACHES LEVEL, THEY GET TO 5 TO 7.
YOU'LL SEE IT AT THE MEETS AND MASTERS.
BUT I'M PROUD TO SAY THAT YOU TAKE OUT THE WRITING AND THOSE KIDS SCORES DROP, WHICH MEANS OUR WRITING FOCUS HAS REALLY, HELPED IN MULTIPLE GRADE LEVELS, INCLUDING THE JUNIOR HIGH.
MATH. YOU SEE IT ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE.
BUT WE ARE IN SOME CASES DOUBLE WHERE WE WERE AT THIS POINT LAST YEAR.
THE CBA TWO FROM LAST YEAR AND THE CBA TWO FROM THIS YEAR.
AND I WILL NOT SAY APPLES TO APPLES.
BUT THE CBA TWO THE LAST YEAR AND THIS YEAR THEY ARE DIFFERENT.
IT'S UP TO 60% DIFFERENT BECAUSE OF THE NEW ITEM TYPES.
IF YOU JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR AT THE SIXTH GRADE LEVEL IN MATH, WE DOUBLE IN THE APPROACHES, MEETS AND MASTERS, WHICH MEANS WE HAVE DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF KIDS WHO ARE AT THE PASSING LEVEL RIGHT NOW.
AND I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH ENGLISH HAVING THAT EXTENDED CONSTRUCTED RESPONSE, MAKING THAT THE MOST CHANGED ASSESSMENT THAT WE HAVE IN STAAR 2.0 BECAUSE THE SHORT CONSTRUCTIVE RESPONSES IN EACH OF THEM.
AT, SEVENTH GRADE WE SEE THE SAME THING.
MUCH LIKE FOURTH AND SIXTH, YOU TAKE OUT THE WRITING, ELA WOULD DO WORSE.
MORE THAN DOUBLE AT THIS POINT LAST YEAR.
SO MATH IS DOING A GREAT JOB AT THE JUNIOR HIGH.
CONTINUE TO SEE INCREASES IN ELA.
SAME THING. TAKE OUT THE WRITING.
THEY'LL DO WORSE. MATH IS THE HIGHEST IT'S BEEN IN EIGHTH GRADE.
SORRY. EIGHTH GRADE HAD ONLY A 10%.
LIKE TO MOVE ON TO THE HIGH SCHOOL.
SO COMPARED TO LAST YEAR, WE ARE STAGNANT.
ALTHOUGH THIS TEST, THIS CBA TWO, HAD MORE, NEW ITEM TYPES THAN WE DID LAST YEAR, WE DID SEE A SMALL DROP.
I WILL SAY THAT IN ENGLISH TWO I MENTIONED IT EARLIER.
THERE'S A 30% DIFFERENCE IN THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS WHO RECEIVED ZEROS IN ENGLISH TWO.
SO WHAT THAT IS TELLING US IS THAT THE ENGLISH TWO TEAM THERE'S CALIBRATION ENGLISH ONE, TEAM CALIBRATION, THE TWO TEAMS WE NEED TO CALIBRATE A LITTLE BIT MORE BECAUSE THAT THAT IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE AMOUNT OF STUDENTS RECEIVING ZEROS.
AND THEN LAST BUT NOT LEAST, ALGEBRA ONE.
SO, ALGEBRA ONE WE ARE ABOVE WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR BY 1 OR 2%, SO WE'VE HELD STEADY FOR CBA TWO.
ANY QUESTIONS? QUESTIONS. THANK YOU, MR. DAVIDSON. ITEM 10B NAVIGATE TO
[Navigate to '28 Mid-Year Update ]
28 MID-YEAR UPDATE.ALL RIGHT. I WON'T HAVE AS MUCH DATA AS TODD.
I MEAN, TY BUT I'LL GO THROUGH THIS REALLY QUICKLY.
I'M GOING TO GO BACK TO KIND OF WHERE WE STARTED AND JOG OUR MEMORIES.
SO THE TIMELINE, AS YOU CAN SEE, WE DID START IN JANUARY.
WE ENDED IN MAY. IT WAS A FIVE MONTH, SPAN.
AND, WITHIN THAT, AS YOU RECALL, WE MET IN HERE WITH BOARD AND CABINET KIND OF DID A SWOT ANALYSIS.
THEN WE WENT AND PULLED 77 MEMBER COMMITTEE TOGETHER BY MAKING SURE THAT WE WENT THROUGH AND MADE SURE THAT WE HAD THE DEMOGRAPHICS THAT ARE REPRESENTED IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT WERE PART OF THAT COMMITTEE.
WE DEVELOPED NINE MEMBER TEAMS, AND THEY GOT TO FOCUS ON SEVEN PRIORITIES.
[00:55:01]
AND AS YOU RECALL, WE KIND OF HAD DISTRICT LEADERSHIP PRESENT ON WHAT WERE OUR STRENGTHS CURRENTLY.AND THEN WHERE ARE AREAS OF NEED AND IMPROVEMENT.
SO THEY GOT TO HEAR THAT AS THEY CONTINUED WORKING ON THOSE, PRIORITIES.
IT'S EXCITING THAT, WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT ALL THE PEOPLE THAT CREATED THAT AND ALL THE TIME THAT THEY SPENT IN THAT, BECAUSE WE MET OVER FIVE MEETINGS AFTER WORK AND AFTER SCHOOL WITH PEOPLE THAT WERE IN HERE.
SO THIS IS WAS VERY INTENTIONALLY MADE WITH THE WORDS THAT WERE USED.
AS YOU RECALL, THIS IS WHAT WE WANT TO SEE AS KIDS GRADUATE.
SO WHERE WE ARE NOW IS OUR DISTRICT LEADERSHIP TEAM.
WE HAVE 45 MEMBERS THAT WE MEET EVERY MONTH.
SO WE'VE GOTTEN TOGETHER AND WE WENT OVER ALL THE PRIORITIES AND WE SAID, WE WANT YOU TO PICK 1 OR 2 THAT REALLY MOVE YOU AND THAT YOU ARE EXCITED ABOUT WORKING ON FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS AND BUILDING THAT OUT.
SO WE DEVELOPED SEVEN DESIGN TEAMS THAT ARE WORKING ON EACH OF THE PRIORITIES.
WE'VE ALREADY HAD FIVE MONTHLY MEETINGS WHERE DISTRICT LEADERSHIP HAS COMMITTED TO EVERY MEETING THAT WE HAVE IN THIS ROOM, WE SPEND AT LEAST AN HOUR TO AN HOUR AND A HALF JUST FOCUSED ON THOSE PRIORITIES AND THE WORK THAT IT'S TAKING TO GET THOSE STEPS COMPLETED.
AND SO YOU HAVE THAT, THE EXTENDED VERSION ATTACHED TO THAT POWERPOINT THAT I GAVE YOU.
AND I'M JUST KIND OF GOING TO SHOW YOU WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE.
THESE WERE THE TEAMS, THE PRIORITIES THAT WERE LISTED THERE.
AND THEN EACH OF OUR 48 MEMBERS SIGNED UP FOR A PRIORITY TO WORK ON.
THE PROJECT TRACKER LOOKS LIKE THIS.
YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE THE OBJECTIVE AND MEASURE LISTED UP THERE THAT WERE CREATED BY THE COMMITTEE.
THEN WE HAVE OUR ACTION STEPS AND THEN THE OWNER OF THAT, WHAT MEASURES WE'RE USING TO CHECK IF IT'S COMPLETED, WHAT RESOURCES ARE GOING TO BE NEEDED, THE TIMELINES THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT.
AND THEN EACH COMMITTEE WILL DROP DOWN ON THEIR TRACKER EVERY TIME THEY MEET TO KIND OF TALK ABOUT IF THEY'RE STILL ON TRACK, IF WE'RE STILL HAVEN'T STARTED IT YET OR IF IT'S BEEN COMPLETED.
SO YOU HAVE ALL OF THE SEVEN PRIORITIES THERE.
THAT WAS JUST AN EXAMPLE OF ONE, FOR RETENTION AND RECRUITMENT.
SO WHERE WE ARE GOING NEXT IS CONTINUE THE PLANNING WITH OUR DESIGN TEAMS. I WILL PROVIDE, LIKE I SAID, THOSE UPDATES, WE ARE EXTENDING THOSE COMMITTEES THAT ARE HERE TO OUTSIDE ALSO IN THE DISTRICT OR COMMUNITY.
THOSE TEAMS THAT ARE ON THERE, THE DESIGN TEAMS, THEY'RE INVITING OTHER PEOPLE TO COME TO THEIR MEETINGS, AS THEY MEET OUTSIDE OF THE DISTRICT LEADERSHIP TEAM SO THAT WE CONTINUE HAVING MORE INPUT ON THOSE ACTION STEPS.
AND THEN HEATHER IS WORKING ON HER COMMUNICATION PLAN, WHICH IS PRETTY MUCH GOING TO MIMIC WHAT HOW WE ROLLED OUT THE DISTRICT VALUES ACROSS THE DISTRICT, SO THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT ALL THE PRIORITIES AND GOING INTO SOME IN DEPTH TRAINING ON THEM AT THE CAMPUS LEVEL.
ANY QUESTIONS AROUND THAT? NO THANK YOU. THANK YOU.
YOU'RE WELCOME. REALLY? WAKE UP. SO WE'LL MOVE TO ITEM 10C 2024 2025 ACADEMIC CALENDAR.
[2024-2025 Academic Calendar]
ALRIGHTY. SO MORE EXCITING STUFF.ALL RIGHT. THIS ONE'S ONLY FOUR SLIDES.
SO I'LL GO QUICKLY THROUGH THIS.
WE MET IN HERE, DEVELOPED FOUR DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE CALENDARS, AND THEN WE'LL PUT ALL THE NEEDS AND WANTS INTO TWO DRAFT CALENDARS, AND THEN WE'LL CHOOSE ONE OF THEM THAT WILL RECOMMEND TO YOU ON WHAT WE, WILL AMEND FOR NEXT YEAR.
SO OPTION ONE, AND YOU HAVE A LARGER VERSION OF THAT CALENDAR AT THE BACK OF YOUR POWERPOINT.
SO IF YOU WANT TO LOOK AT THAT, BUT I'LL HIGHLIGHT IT HERE.
ON THE OPTION ONE WE HAVE OUR STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAYS THAT WILL BEGIN ON AUGUST 5TH.
[01:00:01]
WE'LL HAVE OUR SCHOOL FIRST START DATE AS AUGUST 20TH.WE HAVE THREE AND A HALF DISTRICT STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAYS WHERE THE DISTRICT, THE C AND I DEPARTMENT OR ANYONE ELSE OUTSIDE OF, THE CAMPUSES, IF WE HAVE THINGS THAT WE NEED TO TRAIN THEM ON, WHICH IS USUALLY A PD PLAN WE ALREADY HAVE IN PLAY, WE'LL BRING THEM TO DO THOSE, PD DAYS.
WE'LL HAVE SIX STRATEGIC PLANNING DAYS.
THOSE ARE TEACHER PLAN AND PREP DAYS.
AND ANYWHERE WE HAVE PLAN AND PREP DAYS FOR TEACHERS, THOSE ARE UNTOUCHABLE DAYS.
THAT IS, THOSE ARE DAYS THAT WE NEITHER THE DISTRICT OR THE CAMPUS, TOUCH.
IN ADDITION, WE HAVE A FULL FIVE DAY BREAK IN OCTOBER LIKE WE DID THIS YEAR.
WE HAVE. YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT CAME IN, YOU'RE DOING IT.
YEAH, YEAH. SO THERE WAS A LOT OF TALK AROUND THAT.
THEY WANTED A FULL FIVE DAY WEEK.
SO THE FIRST OPTION HAS THAT, ON WHAT THEY WERE SEEKING.
THERE'LL BE A FIVE DAY THANKSGIVING BREAK, AS WE ALWAYS DO.
WE HAVE TEN DAYS OF CHRISTMAS BREAK, FOLLOWED BY STRATEGIC PLANNING DAY.
WE'LL HAVE TWO BAD WEATHER DAYS.
WE'LL HAVE, ADDITIONAL CLOSURE DAYS THAT WE COULD HAVE IN OUR BACK POCKET.
AND THEN THE SCHOOL DAY, THE SCHOOL CALENDAR WILL END IN THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL ON MAY 30TH.
WE START OUR STAFF DEVELOPMENT ON AUGUST 1ST.
WE WILL HAVE SCHOOL BEGIN AUGUST 14TH.
THREE TEACHER PLAN AND PREP DAYS BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS.
WE'LL HAVE TWO CAMPUS PD DAYS.
THE DISTRICT WILL HAVE FOUR DISTRICT STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAYS.
WE'LL HAVE A THREE DAY FALL BREAK ON THIS CALENDAR.
FIVE DAYS OF THANKSGIVING, TEN DAYS OF CHRISTMAS WITH, STRATEGIC PLANNING DAY, TWO BAD WEATHER DAYS.
AND WE'LL BE OUT OF SCHOOL BY MAY 23RD.
I ALSO PROVIDED A SIDE BY SIDE GLANCE.
SO ONE PUTS US OUT BEFORE MEMORIAL DAY AND ONE IS AFTER.
YES, SIR. BUT ONE GIVES YOU FIVE DAY FALL BREAK.
YEP. THE OTHER ONE GIVES YOU THREE.
YEAH. DO WE NOTICE ANY SLIDE IN OUR SCORES AFTER THAT FALL BREAK IN OCTOBER? I THINK IT KIND OF HINTED AT THAT BACK IN OCTOBER.
SO WE DON'T HAVE AN OCTOBER OOPS.
WE GOT THE WHAT'S THE WHAT'S THE ONE FOR THE WINTER WE'RE USING THE WINTER.
WINTER FREEZE. WINTER FREEZE SUMMER SLIDE.
OCTOBER. NO OCTOBER OOPS SO FAR [LAUGHTER].
THAT IS GOING. I'M GOING TO COIN THAT ONE. WE WILL CITE YOU ON THAT.
WE WILL CITE YOU ON THAT TERM.
BUT I'M GOING TO HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT OCTOBER OOPS.
THAT'S WE'RE GOING TO CITE MR. GUYTON ON THAT.
BECAUSE THERE'S, I LIKE THE ONE THAT'S JUST THREE DAYS THERE.
WELL, NOW, ONE OF THE THINGS THE TEACHERS TOLD US WAS THAT WENT LAST YEAR, LAST TAKING THE TWO DAYS OFF, YOU KNOW, THEY WERE TAKING THE WHOLE TWO WEEKS OFF AND ATTENDANCE WAS KIND OF SUFFERING DURING THAT TIME.
DOES ANYBODY REMEMBER? NO. I'M JUST WONDERING HOW THE COMMUNITY WILL TAKE THAT.
YOU GET OUT EARLIER, RIGHT? YEAH. OPTION TWO, YOU GET OUT EARLIER.
IS IS THERE LIKE A PLAN TO, LIKE, POST THESE IN THE COMMUNITY.
MIGHT CAN GIVE SOME FEEDBACK OR DO LIKE EVEN A LITTLE POLL.
I MEAN CERTAINLY WE CAN ENTERTAIN THAT IF Y'ALL WOULD LIKE US TO DO THAT.
THE DAC IS USUALLY REPRESENTATIVE OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND THE TEACHERS AND THE ADMINISTRATORS.
SO IT'S KIND OF LIKE A COLLECTIVE VOICE IN THAT.
[01:05:02]
BUT WE CAN CERTAINLY DO THAT IF WE'RE OPEN TO SITTING IT OUT THERE.I'D LOVE TO SEE IF THERE WAS LIKE ANY COMMUNITY FEEDBACK ON IT.
I MEAN, IT DOESN'T MATTER TO ME EITHER WAY.
YOU CAN'T SPEAK TO THE COMMUNITY JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT IT.
I JUST DON'T WANT US TO BE HERE, YOU KNOW, AT THE OCTOBER MEETING SAYING, WELL, OUR NUMBERS ARE, EARLIER. SO RIGHT NOW, THE OPTIONS PRESENTED ARE BASED ON THE FEEDBACK FROM THE.
CORRECT THE COMMITTEE. COMMITTEE.
I CAN ASSURE YOU. I MEAN, I'M SURE THAT.
WHAT WE'RE SEEKING TONIGHT IS REALLY FEEDBACK FROM THE BOARD.
SO DOCTOR CAMARILLO, WHEN SHE MEETS WITH THE DAC COMMITTEE AGAIN CAN INCORPORATE THAT FEEDBACK.
AND THEN NEXT MONTH BRING SOME OPTIONS THAT WE TRY OUR BEST TO INCORPORATE FEEDBACK FROM THE DAC COMMITTEE AND THE BOARD THAT YOU GUYS CAN TAKE ACTION ON.
COULD WE, MAYBE DO SOMETHING WHERE WE COULD HAVE THAT FIVE DAY FALL BREAK AND STILL GET OUT MAY 23RD? YOU CAN DO THAT, WHAT YOU'LL BE MESSING WITH IS AVAILABLE SCHOOL CLOSURE DAYS AND THAT KIND OF STUFF.
BECAUSE YOU'RE MESSING WITH MINUTES AT THAT TIME, YOU CAN CERTAINLY DO.
WE NEVER HAVE BAD WEATHER DAYS.
RIGHT. AND FOR ME PERSONALLY, IT'S ABOUT FEEDBACK FROM TEACHERS, RIGHT.
BECAUSE I THINK THEIR INPUT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN OUR INPUT.
I MEAN, BECAUSE WHAT IS IT THAT THEY'RE DOING AND THAT HOW IT AFFECTS THEM AND INSTRUCTION AS WELL AS, YOU KNOW, SOMETHING THAT'S GOOD FOR YEAH, PARENTS AND ALL THAT.
EXCEPT. RIGHT. NOT MR. GUYTON, BUT I'M TALKING ABOUT OTHER PARENTS.
[LAUGHTER] BUT, YOU KNOW, AND THAT IS IF YOU'VE EVER WANTED TO COME SIT IN AND WATCH THE DAC MEETING, IT IS I MEAN, YOU HAVE, YOU KNOW, TEACHERS WHO ARE PUTTING THINGS ON THE CALENDAR BECAUSE THEY'RE BASING IT ON ASSESSMENTS.
AND WHEN THEY KNOW KIDS ARE GETTING TIRED, YOU HAVE COMMUNITY MEMBERS THAT ARE SAYING, BUT WHAT ABOUT, YOU KNOW, THIS DAY? AND SO THERE'S THAT KIND OF DYNAMICS GOING ON IN CONVERSATIONS.
AND SO THEY DEVELOP THESE FOUR CALENDARS.
AND WE NARROWED IT DOWN TO TWO.
WHAT I WAS GOING TO JUST SAY IS OUR NEXT STEPS IS THAT WE WILL GO BACK, TO DAC FEBRUARY 15TH.
AND THEN WE ALSO WILL HAVE TO GO BACK AND NEGOTIATE, THESE, YOU KNOW, BEGINNING OF YEAR DAYS BECAUSE THEY MIGHT WANT TO MOVE SOME THINGS AROUND BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS AS FAR AS THEIR PLANNING DAYS. RIGHT.
BUT I'VE YET TO BE ANYWHERE WHERE YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE EVERYBODY HAPPY WITH CALENDARS.
IT MIGHT BE ON HERE, BUT THE PRINT IS TOO DAMN SMALL FOR ME TO READ.
WHICH ONE? IN OPTION TWO WHEN WOULD GRADUATION BE? THE LAST THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL.
YEAH, I MAKE THAT A MOTION, I SECOND THAT.
YES, MA'AM. LIKE WITH THE ELEMENTARY OF SEVEN DAYS AVAILABLE SCHOOL CLOSURE DAYS.
MAYBE THIS IS A STUPID QUESTION, BUT WHAT IF WE DON'T USE ALL THOSE DAYS, LIKE, DO THEY GET OUT EARLY? DO WE HAVE EXTRA DAYS BUILT IN OR WHAT? NO. THOSE ARE SO WHERE SHE'S GETTING THAT IS SHE MENTIONED THE REQUIRED MINUTES.
SO WHEN YOU LOOK AT WHEN WE START SCHOOL AND WHEN WE END SCHOOL, THE STATE WE HAVE TO CALCULATE EVERY DAY ALL THOSE MINUTES AND ANYTHING OVER THE STATE THRESHOLD IF WE CANCEL SCHOOL, AS LONG AS WE STILL GET IN THOSE REQUIRED MINUTES, WE DON'T HAVE TO MAKE THOSE DAYS UP.
SO LIKE, WHAT IF WE NEVER TOOK ANY OF THOSE DAYS? THEY'RE GONE. I MEAN, WE JUST HAD EXTRA MINUTES LOSE THEM. CORRECT. BECAUSE WE STILL HAVE.
THE OTHER THING IS, WE HAVE REQUIRED NUMBER OF WORK DAYS FOR TEACHERS AS WELL IN THEIR CONTRACT.
SO YOU'RE TRYING TO GET A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF MINUTES FROM THE STATE, BUT ALSO REQUIRED NUMBER OF DAYS TO PAY OUR EMPLOYEES FOR WORKING THE CONTRACTUAL DAYS. SO THERE'S A GIVE AND TAKE TO EVERYTHING.
I MEAN, I THINK IT'D BE INTERESTING TO SEE SOME TYPE OF STRAW POLL FROM THE COMMUNITY.
AND THAT WAY EVERYBODY CAN SAY, WELL, WE KNEW.
YOU TRY TO GET, GOOD REPRESENTATION THERE AND LET THEM DO THE WORK.
NO, YOU'RE JUST GIVING THEM INPUT.
BECAUSE HOW MANY COMMUNITY MEMBERS DO WE HAVE ON THERE? I DON'T REMEMBER THE EXACT NUMBER, BUT THERE'S, AT LEAST RIGHT NOW I CAN KIND OF ON TOP MY HEAD 4 OR 5 THAT I KNOW OF.
BUT I DON'T REMEMBER THE WHOLE NUMBER.
[01:10:01]
YOU GET IT? LET ME CHECK ON THAT, JUST FOR CLARITY.YOU'RE NOT RECOMMENDING THAT WE PUT IT OUT FOR A VOTE, PER SE? NO, BUT JUST FEEDBACK. INPUT.
I'D JUST LIKE TO SEE YOU KNOW.
THEY COULD DO A THOUGHT EXCHANGE. I WOULD SOLICIT THAT KIND OF FEEDBACK.
WE CAN PUT IT OUT THERE FOR THAT? YES, SIR. THAT'LL BE GOOD, BECAUSE THAT WAY YOU CAN LAND ON THE MIDDLE OF WHAT THEY LIKE ON THOSE OPTIONS.
YEAH. I THINK WE NEED TO SEE TOM'S PERSONAL CALENDAR FOR THE END OF MAY.
[LAUGHTER] SEE WHAT'S GOING ON HERE? NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
REMEMBER I'M THAT GUY FOR THE YEAR ROUND SCHOOL SYSTEM.
I LIKE TO SEE MY KIDS IN SCHOOL ALL THE TIME.
I'M WITH TOM. THAT'S A WHOLE DIFFERENT CALENDAR.
I HEARD [INAUDIBLE]. I'M KIND OF THINKING IF YOU COULD DO THE FULL WEEK AND STILL GET OUT THE 23RD.
THAT'S MY OPINION. YEAH, WELL.
YEAH. ONE WEEKEND. WHAT? IT'S NOT. IT COULD BE.
CONTRACT DAYS. I DON'T GO ANYWHERE OVER SPRING BREAK, SO YOU CAN TAKE TWO FROM SPRING BREAK AND GIVE IT TO ME IN THE FALL.
[INAUDIBLE] IT'S NOT ABOUT Y'ALL.
IT'S NOT ABOUT WARREN. IT'S ALL ABOUT LITTLE JOHNNY.
I GET PAID SO MUCH IN THIS POSITION.
SO WE'LL LOOK AT IT AND SEE HOW WE CAN BEST COLLECT THAT, THAT INPUT AND FEEDBACK AND SEE SO AS LONG AS WE'RE NOT SAYING THAT'S A VOTE FOR THEM, WE'RE JUST SAYING INPUT AND COLLECTING INPUT. WE KNOW THE ADMINISTRATION WILL WORK IT OUT.
WE'RE JUST STRETCHING YOU A LITTLE BIT.
THIS IS A GOOD EXERCISE TO STRETCH ON THAT CALENDAR BECAUSE EVERYBODY HAS AN OPINION ABOUT THEM.
[LAUGHTER] NOW YOU GOT THE RIGHT NOW YOU KNOW.
ANY OTHER QUESTIONS. BUT WE'LL WORK ON THAT MR. GUYTON ABOUT HOW WE CAN BEST COLLECT THAT INFORMATION.
YEAH. I'D JUST BE CURIOUS TO SEE WHAT THE INPUT LOOKS LIKE.
OKAY. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? OKAY.
MOVE ON TO ITEM 10 E NAMING LOCKHART NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NUMBER SIX.
[Naming Lockhart New Elementary School #6]
I'M THINKING DR., MR. ESTRADA, I'M SORRY [INAUDIBLE].YES, SO BOARD I WANTED TO JUST QUICKLY REVIEW, HOW THE POLICY AND I KNOW WE'VE SHARED THIS AND WE'VE TALKED ABOUT IT SOME, BUT I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC AS WELL TO BE AWARE, WHAT THE PROCESS IS FOR NAMING A NEW SCHOOL BUILDING AND KIND OF THE STEPS THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT, YOU KNOW, SO JUST IN SHORT, AS A QUICK SUMMARY, YOU KNOW, THE FACILITIES IN A NEW SCHOOL LIKE ELEMENTARY NUMBER SIX.
YOU KNOW, SHALL BE NAMED FOR, HISTORICAL OR GEOGRAPHICAL SITES, OR A COMMUNITY, REALLY WANTING TO IDENTIFY OUR BOARD POLICY, TRIES TO STEER US TO, TO IDENTIFY LIKE LOGICAL NAMES.
I GUESS FOR BASED ON THE AREA OR GEOGRAPHY OF A REGION OF WHERE A SCHOOL MAY BE.
AND IT ALSO HAS AN AVENUE FOR, NAMING IT AFTER INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE DECEASED.
ONE OF THE OBLIGATIONS THAT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT HAS TO DO IN OUR POLICY EVEN DIRECTS THE SUPERINTENDENT IS TO GIVE AN UPDATE AND SHARE WITH THE COMMUNITY WHAT THE BOARD IS THINKING, WHAT THE INTENTIONS ARE.
SO IN ORDER TO START THAT PROCESS, WE WANTED TO COMMUNICATE THAT.
YOU KNOW, I THINK THAT A LOGICAL RECOMMENDATION WOULD BE, ORCHARD LOOP ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
SO I WANTED TO SHARE THAT AND, ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT ANYONE MAY HAVE OR ALSO ANY RECOMMENDATIONS AS WE MOVE FORWARD THROUGH THIS PROCESS TO OFFICIALLY NOMINATE, A POSSIBLE SCHOOL NAME THAT WE CAN CONSIDER AND INCLUDE THAT IN THE LIST OF NOMINATIONS FOR THE SCHOOL NAME.
[01:15:02]
SOMETHING? NO, THEY WOULD THEY WOULD SUBMIT, A NOMINATION FORM TO THE DISTRICT.AND THEN WE WILL CONSOLIDATE THAT INFORMATION AND SHARE IT WITH THE BOARD SO THAT AT A FUTURE BOARD MEETING, THE BOARD WOULD HAVE ALL THE POSSIBLE NOMINATIONS THAT ARE FOR CONSIDERATION. WE HAVEN'T PUBLISHED ANYTHING YET.
YES, MA'AM. JUST WANT TO COMMUNICATE THE PROCESS.
AND HOW LONG HAS THIS PROCESS BEEN IN PLACE? I HAVE TO FIND OUT.
I DON'T KNOW THE EXACT DATE WHEN THE LAST, THE POLICY WAS UPDATED.
BECAUSE I WAS ASKED. WHEN WAS IT THAT IT HAS TO BE SOMEBODY THAT'S DEAD, A DECEASED? WHY CAN'T IT BE SOMEONE? THE QUESTION WAS, WHY CAN'T IT BE SOMEONE THAT'S PRESENTLY ALIVE THAT WOULD VALUE BEING ACKNOWLEDGED FOR WHATEVER THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS WERE TO THE COMMUNITY OR WHATEVER? SO I'M NOT SURE.
OKAY. BUT I CAN FIND OUT THAT ANSWER FOR YOU.
WELL, FOR ONE THING, BORCHERT LOOP IS A LOGICAL AND GREAT NAME FOR THE NEW SCHOOL.
WHOEVER CAME UP WITH THAT IDEA WAS BRILLIANT.
I'M SORRY. WARREN WAS TALKING TO ME.
HE SAID. WHAT DID YOU SAY? YOU NEED TO PUT THAT IN WRITING.
WELL, IT'S ALREADY NOTED AS LOCKHART ELEMENTARY.
YOU THINK THAT MIGHT BE AN OUTSTANDING NAME? WE CAN'T NAME IT AFTER PEOPLE ALIVE.
WELL, I MEAN, HE'S STILL ALIVE.
[LAUGHTER] WELL, UNLESS I MAKE A MOTION THAT WE ADD DEAD I MEAN, DECEASED OR ALIVE.
TO RECOGNIZE PEOPLE THAT HAVE ARE PRESENTLY MAKING CONTRIBUTIONS.
DR. SANCHEZ. SANCHEZ ELEMENTARY IS WHAT I RECOMMEND.
JUST AS A REMINDER TO THE BOARD, THIS IS JUST A COMMUNICATION.
RIGHT. THAT'S WHAT WE FIGURED, RIGHT? THAT'S WHY WE'RE COMMUNICATING A LOT BACK AND FORTH.
WE DON'T JUST MAKE A POLICY THAT SAYS GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION BASED ON THAT.
THEN WE KNOW WHATEVER STREET IS GOING TO BE ON THAT'S WHAT IT IS EVERY TIME.
THE BOARD, COULD MAKE THAT POLICY, BUT YOU'RE STILL GOING TO HAVE TO STILL GOING TO HAVE TO NAME IT.
BECAUSE, THERE WILL STILL HAVE TO BE SOME FORMATION.
OH, NO, I DON'T WANT IT. I FEEL LIKE ONCE WE PROCESS.
SO I WANT YOU ALL TO VOTE FOR IT.
NO I'M JUST KIDDING. IS THERE A TIME FRAME FOR THE.
COMMUNITY STILL HAS THE ABILITY TO MAKE THOSE, MAKE THEIR NOMINATIONS? I BELIEVE IT'S A MONTH. MONTH.
BUT THE BOARD DOES THE BOARD IS THE ONE WHO MAKES THE FINAL DECISION AND VOTES ON THE NAME.
ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS BOARD? OKAY, WE'LL MOVE ON.
[Discuss consider and take possible action to approve purchase of real property for constructing Elementary School #6 located in the J.B. Gray Survey, Abstract 116 Caldwell County from PHAU-Lockhart 450, LLC, for a purchase price of $836,352.00, and delegating authority to the Superintendent to finalize negotiations and execute a real estate purchase agreement, tender funds, and effectuate closing.]
SURVEY. ABSTRACT 116 CALDWELL COUNTY FROM PHAU-LOCKHART 450, LLC, FOR A PURCHASE PRICE OF $836,352 AND DELEGATING AUTHORITY TO THE SUPERINTENDENT TO FINALIZE NEGOTIATIONS AND EXECUTE A REAL ESTATE PURCHASE AGREEMENT, TENDER FUNDS AND EFFECTUATE CLOSING.IS IT? OH, WE'RE JUST READY TO SIGN CONTRACTS AND CLOSE THE DEAL.
YES, SIR. WE JUST NEED SPECIFIC LANGUAGE THAT YOU JUST MENTIONED.
AND THEN ALSO, SPECIFIC LANGUAGE AND THE MOTION LANGUAGE TO BE STATED AND VOTED UPON.
[01:20:01]
OKAY, I WANT TO.ARE YOU GOING TO SPEAK OR YOU JUST WANT ME TO GO AHEAD AND DO THE MOTION? GO AHEAD. OKAY.
I MOVE THAT THE BOARD APPROVE THE CONTRACT IN THE SUBSTANTIALLY THE SAME FORM AS PROVIDED BY COUNCIL AND CONTAINING THE MATERIAL TERMS AS DISCUSSED IN EXECUTIVE SESSION OF THE 12.8 ACRE PARCEL OF REAL PROPERTY FROM PHAU-LOCKHART 450, LLC, , FOR A PURCHASE PRICE OF $836,352 IN CLOSING COST.
I MOVE TO FURTHER DELEGATE AUTHORITY TO THE SUPERINTENDENT TO TENDER THE FUNDS OF CLOSING, EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY CLOSING DOCUMENTS, AND TAKE ANY OTHER ACTION NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE CLOSING AND PURCHASE OF THE PROPERTY.
WE HAVE A SECOND. ANY OTHER COMMENTS? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE.
AYE. ANY OPPOSED? PASSES 7 TO 0.
BE GOOD TO HAVE PROPERTY TO PUT THE SCHOOL ON.
ITEM 11 C CONSIDER AND OR APPROVE ENERGY CONSERVATION PROJECT.
[Consider and/or Approve Energy Conservation Project]
GOOD EVENING AGAIN. BOARD PRESIDENT WRIGHT, BOARD MEMBERS AND SUPERINTENDENT ESTRADA.SO BACK IN JULY, THE BOARD APPROVED THE HUTTON SERVICES TO GO AHEAD AND GET US A PROPOSAL ON SOME, ENERGY SAVINGS AND ENERGY WORK DONE IN THE DISTRICT.
IF IT'S A SECO LOAN, WOULD BE A 2% COST.
IT'S ONLY GOING TO COST US $36,000 FOR THE ACTUAL ENGINEERING PART OF IT, WHICH IS NOT EVEN A QUARTER OF WHAT IT WOULD COST FOR REGULAR ENGINEER TO DO THE WORK THEY'RE GOING TO PROVIDE FOR US.
YOU SHOULD HAVE A PACKET IN FRONT OF YOU TOO.
WELL, I CAN WALK THROUGH IT REAL QUICK.
YEAH. THAT'S IT. IS THIS ONE THE FLOW CHART? FLOW DIAGRAM? THE FLOW CHART? YES. IT'S, SYSTEM DATA.
THE UTILITY BACK IN JULY 24TH WHERE WE STARTED.
BASICALLY APPROVAL FOR THE LEVEL TWO.
THAT'LL BE THE NEXT SECTION OF LIKE, WHERE WE'LL START DOING ALL THE FINAL ANALYSIS AND EVERYTHING.
WE'VE ALREADY WENT THROUGH EACH CAMPUS AND ON SOME WORK WE'VE ACTUALLY PULLED A LOT OF THE, DATA FROM THE CITY AND THE CITY WATER, AQUA WATER LIKE, AND EVEN THE ELECTRICAL AND ALL THAT STUFF.
THE NEXT SLIDE SHOWS THE FUNDING.
THE PAYBACK ON THE LOANS WILL NOT START UNTIL THE PROJECT IS 100% COMPLETE, AND ALSO THAT THE SECO THIRD PARTY COMES IN AND DOES THEIR FINAL APPROVAL OF THE PROJECTS BEING COMPLETE.
THEY HAVE TO SIGN OFF ON IT BEFORE THEY CAN EVEN START BUILDING US ANYTHING.
THIS IS A ONE YEAR PROGRAM ONE YEAR PROJECT ON THE FIRST PHASE.
SO WE'LL SEE THAT IN THE NEXT SLIDE AS WELL.
THIS IS KIND OF LIKE SOME DATA FOR YOU.
THIS IS WHAT WE'RE PAYING RIGHT NOW PER PER CAMPUS.
AND WE'RE LOOKING TO KNOCK THAT DOWN SUBSTANTIALLY.
AND SOME OF THIS STUFF LIKE ELECTRICAL AND WATER, THERE'S QUITE A BIT.
SO YOU'LL BE SEEING LIGHTING UPGRADES, WATER CONSERVATION CONTROLS ON ALL THE UNITS, AND EVEN LIGHTING CONTROLS AS WELL, SOLAR FILM AND WINDOWS, HVAC UPGRADES AS WELL.
SO WE'RE NOT JUST PAYING FOR, THEM TO COME LOOK AT STUFF AND PUT A MODULE IN.
WE'RE ACTUALLY PAYING FOR EQUIPMENT.
WE'RE PAYING FOR STUFF TO BENEFITS THE DISTRICT AND OUR STUDENTS FOR A BETTER LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.
LIKE I MENTIONED, IT'S A ONE YEAR PROJECT.
THE NEXT SLIDE SHOWS A KIND OF A BREAKDOWN FOR PHASE THE PRELIMINARY OF, PHASE ONE.
1.7 TO $2 MILLION PROJECT TOTAL.
IT'S, WE WILL HAVE ANYWHERE BETWEEN $121,450 TO $142,900 AND A YEARLY SAVINGS ON ALL OUR, BILLS AND UTILITY BILLS.
IT'S A 14 YEAR SAVINGS PAYBACK.
SO NOTHING COMES FROM THE DISTRICT.
WE'RE NOT PAYING OUT OF THE DISTRICT'S POCKET.
[01:25:01]
ENGINEERING FEE IS $36,000 APPLIED THROUGH THE LOAN.WE DON'T PAY THAT OUT OF POCKET.
WE ACTUALLY GOES INTO THE LOAN PROGRAM OR THE GRANT, $295,000.
IF WE GO WITH 100% OF THAT AS THE ACTUAL SECO LOANSTAR PROGRAM.
THAT INTEREST IS FROM THE 1.7 TO $2 MILLION DOLLARS.
YES. SO THOSE SAVINGS ARE GUARANTEED.
WHAT IF THE SAVINGS ACTUALLY FELL BELOW THOSE? WHAT WAS THAT? WHAT IF THE ENERGY SAVINGS FELL LESS THAN WHAT THEY EXPECTED? SO TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION IS SECO WON'T EVEN GIVE YOU A LOAN UNLESS THEY GUARANTEE YOU'LL GET SAVINGS.
THEY'LL LOOK AT THAT AND THEY WON'T EVEN GIVE YOU THE LOAN.
IF THEY DON'T SEE THE SAVINGS THERE TO PAY IT BACK, THEY WON'T EVEN ALLOW IT TO HAPPEN.
SO AT THAT MOMENT THEN YOU JUST DON'T DO THE PROJECT.
I WANT TO MAKE SURE TO REMEMBER THAT TOO.
THAT'S JUST A WORST CASE SCENARIO.
YEAH. I THINK THE THE APPROACH IS, YOU KNOW, WE KNOW THAT WE HAVE AGING BUILDINGS AND AGING RESOURCES, HVAC, THOSE TYPES OF THINGS.
BUT IF NOT, DO IT IN A WAY THAT, YOU KNOW, IS COST EFFECTIVE TO THE DISTRICT WHERE EVEN IN A WORST CASE SCENARIO, WE'RE STILL, YOU KNOW, PAYING IT OVER 14 YEARS, ON SAVINGS.
SO IT'S NOT COMING OUT OF OUR M&O FUNDS TO DO IT.
SO IT'S KIND OF A, YOU KNOW, A WIN WIN.
AND TO GO ALONG WITH THAT, IF YOU EVER WOULD PAY IT OFF EARLY, THERE'S NO PENALTY.
SO YOU'D ACTUALLY PAY A LOWER FEE.
YOU KNOW, YOU WOULDN'T HAVE THAT ACCRUED INTEREST OVER THAT TIME AS WELL.
SO THERE'D BE NO PENALTY TO PAYING IT OFF.
THE NEXT THEN ANYTHING ELSE ON THAT.
YOU GUYS CAN TAKE A LOOK AT THAT.
IT'S ACTUALLY PRETTY GOOD NUMBERS RIGHT THERE ON SOME STUFF.
THAT'S PHASE ONE. THIS WOULD BE PHASE TWO SHOWING THE LONG TERM BASICALLY SHOWING LIKE BASICALLY WHAT WE HAVE WE HAVE PLUM CREEK, NAVARRO, CARVER, CLEAR FORK ON PHASE ONE.
BACKWARDS. LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION.
AND THIS IS KIND OF COMING OUT OF THERE.
BUT WHEN YOU GO BACK TO THIS, FACILITY SITE ENERGY USE COST INDEX.
CONSIDERING STRAWN IS OUR NEWEST CAMPUS, WHY IS IT THE LARGEST USER OF ENERGY AMONG ANY OF THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS? I'D HAVE TO ACTUALLY LOOK AT THE SCHOOL AND SEE WHAT'S CAUSING THAT.
AND SO THAT DOES CAUSE QUITE A BIT OF A LITTLE BIT OF ELECTRICAL UP THERE.
PLUS I BELIEVE IT'S A LARGER SCHOOL.
IT'S A LARGER SQUARE FOOT SCHOOL.
CONSIDERING IT'S A LOT NEWER THAN.
I'D HAVE TO REALLY LOOK AT IT, OTHER THAN THOSE TWO THINGS I'D HAVE TO LOOK AT, IT.
IT HAS A LOWER ANNUAL ELECTRICAL USE.
RIGHT? I MEAN, IT COULD BE THAT'S PARTLY TWO STORY TOO.
I HOPE OUR NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IS MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT.
WELL, AND ALSO IT COULD ALSO BE THE NUMBERS BETWEEN THE CITY COMPARED TO BLUEBONNET TOO.
THERE'S TWO DIFFERENT ELECTRICAL.
YEAH. THAT'S TRUE. THAT'S TRUE.
BUT KILOWATTS WOULD IT MATTER? WOULD IT. RIGHT I MEAN A KILOWATT.
NO, NO. BUT IT COULD BE THAT THE CITY CHARGES MORE PER BLUEBONNET.
YEAH. NO, I'M NOT LOOKING AT THE ANNUAL SPEND.
YEAH, NOT THE COST, BUT. RIGHT.
THE AMOUNT OF ELECTRICITY JUST USED.
YES. OKAY. THAT'S INTERESTING. AND I CAN LOOK INTO THAT AND SEE EXACTLY KIND OF WHAT'S DRIVING THAT.
OKAY. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS? NO. I MOVE TO APPROVE THE PROPOSED ENERGY CONSERVATION PROJECT AS PRESENTED AND AMEND THE BUDGET FOR $36,000.
SECOND. WE HAVE A SECOND. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE.
AYE. AYE. ANY OPPOSED? PASSES 7 TO 0.
[Consider and/or Approve Proclamation of February as Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month]
[01:30:02]
AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION CTE MONTH.I'LL SECOND. WE HAVE A MOTION.
WE HAVE A SECOND. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE.
AYE. ANY OPPOSED? PASSES 7 TO 0.
ITEM 11 E CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION TO EXTEND SUPERINTENDENT'S CONTRACT AND APPROVE SALARY.
[Consideration and Possible Action to Extend Superintendent’s Contract and Approve Salary]
BUT WE NEED TO HAVE A LITTLE DISCUSSION.[LAUGHTER] I MOVE THAT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPROVE THE TERMS OF THE SUPERINTENDENT'S CONTRACT AS DISCUSSED IN THE CLOSED SESSION, AND AUTHORIZE THE BOARD PRESIDENT TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACT ON BEHALF OF THE DISTRICT.
WE HAVE A SECOND. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE.
AYE. ANY OPPOSED? PASSES 7 TO 0.
THEY'RE PLOTTING FOR THE MEETING BEING OVER.
[LAUGHTER] YOU'RE GLAD THE MEETING IS OVER? OKAY. WHEN YOU READ THE MOTION, IT SAID THE BOARD PRESIDENT TO EXECUTE ONE.
WHAT. BUT THAT'D BE BAD. OKAY.
[BOARD AND STAFF COMMENTS - ITEMS OF COMMUNITY INTEREST]
ITEM 12, BOARD AND STAFF COMMENTS.REBECCA? OH, I JUST HOPE EVERYBODY'S STAYING WARM.

I THINK WHENEVER ANY SUPERINTENDENT RECEIVES, YOU KNOW, EXTENSION IN CONTRACT, THAT IS A SIGN OF SUPPORT OF THE WORK THAT'S HAPPENING ACROSS THE DISTRICT FROM CLASSROOM TEACHERS AND, YOU KNOW, CAFETERIA STAFF AND EVERY, EVERY JOB THAT WE HAVE IN THIS, INCREDIBLY THANKFUL AND HONORED TO TO DO THIS WORK ALONGSIDE OF EACH. OH, ONE THING.
THANK YOU FOR THAT DINNER THAT WE HAD WITH THE PEACH COBBLER.
IT WAS REALLY NICE OF THE VLK ARCHITECTS.
